tweeter question

I've finally changed out the HU from a Civic EX coupe this past weekend. It's working great and I've begun on the front speakers this week. I've got a 2002 EX Coupe, it's got the front door components with sail panel tweeters and subs in the lower door. I'm having a bit of a problem with a component speaker system I'd picked up (Pioneer TS-A1604C) from Amazon and I'd like some advice before proceeding.

Problem 1 : The door already has wiring for components so I'd begun by using the existing wiring. I chopped the tweeter end wires off and mated these leads to the factory harness. See attachment "tweeter and harness.jpg". I assumed this post is correct as per the wiring colors. Additionally, you may notice on the factory side of the wiring there is a bulge a few cm from the harness. It's covered with foam and shrink tape. I am working under the impression this is a HPF. Am I on the right page with all of this so far? As a test, I plugged in the Tweeter using the factory harness. The sound is almost non-existent. It's faint, much quieter than the rear deck. Even close to my ears, I can barely hear much coming out. Is it possible that the oem HPF is shot? The reason I was replacing the front speakers is that they had problems including being unable to hear them. Could this be the HPF?

Problem 2 : The speaker box seemed to be missing the wiring that connects the sub to the tweeter. I've checked everywhere and could not find it. I've sent a message to Pioneer to get another one (if possible). Should I be using Pioneer's wiring or would the factory wiring by honda be OK? Additionally, if I use the civic wiring, am I correct to assume that the wires are properly crossed over / filtered without needing to make this job any bigger? Have people used the factory wiring without having to rewire the vehicle?

Problem 3 : The new tweeter is smaller than the original. The original tweeter was mounted by a rear screw through the center of the sail panel. The new tweeter did come with a flat housing and an angled housing. It seems the flat housing will fit in the sail panel, but it's barely big enough. Since re-screwing it is out of the question, how is the best way to mount it? I'm thinking I could glue the new housing to the sail panel. The lip of the Pioneer trim ring would just cover the original location of the tweeter. Would E6000 or some kind of Epoxy work for this? I'll have to cut out part of the back of the sail panel where the screw was mounted through. See picture "sail panel and tweeter housing.jpg"

Problem 4 : Upon disassembling the door, it seems the lining tape dried out and the lining is hanging loose, is there some kind of mounting tape I can pick up at the local automotive megamart? Additionally, I've had a few missing white door pegs for quite some time. Now is the time to get that fixed. Are they universal? Can I get them in automotive store, or are they honda specific?

Your answers are highly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: tweeter question

Yes my post was correct, I took the tape off and the bulge you saw is a capacitor (at least it was on my car). I used the factory wiring on my tweeters and theyre fine but they are a little on the loud side. I used hot glue on mine and it worked fine but something stronger would be of better use

As for the clips i always buy from this guy- http://www.ebay.com/itm/170735951289...84.m1497.l2649

They seem to fit even better and tighter than the oem ones that cost 4$ per clip

Re: tweeter question

Your new crossover is attached to the back of the mid-bass driver. I would run new wiring to the tweeter as it is very possible the HPF is damaged and even if it's not it probably isn't the proper crossover frequency for the new tweeter.

Sorry, you were looking for wiring, not the crossover. It's just standard wire with spade clips on the ends. You can easily make a set for a few dollars. I never use the included wire as it's crap.

Re: tweeter question

OK.

Contacted Pioneer to report the missing wire. Although they have extra parts in their warehouse, they insist that since the speakers were purchased over Amazon and not from "authorized Pioneer dealer" I cannot receive this part. I asked how much it would be to replace if I purchased it and they quoted me $150 (2 x $75) which is pretty ridiculous for speakers I paid $60 for. I checked their parts list on their website and it looks like $75 is the list price for "Speaker Cord". For that price it better come with 2 of them and the bottle of lube.

Ran to my local audio shop, they opened a new box of 1604C components and sold me the wires for $30. They will re-order from Pioneer at their "Authorized Dealer" cost.

Was able to cut out / remove the back screw plate from sail panel easily. I should be able to glue the Flush Mount Spacer in easily now.

Anybody have suggestions on a glue for plastic to plastic bonding? I'm thinking All-Seal or E-6000.

Will continue installation tonight.

thanks for the help so far.
