i have amp problems

the other day i was driving down the road bumping as usual, and my bass cut out. i've had this setup for about 7 months now, and have never had probs. the volume wasn't too loud, and i dont know what is the problem. the green power light on the amp turns red for a couple seconds, which is when the subs cut out, then they'll come back on. I thought maybe the wiring was loose so i wentover everything and its all tight and good. I could use some help on this one.
my subs-2 10" mtx 4000's in bandpass box
my sub amp-coustic 240 se 2 channel

Follow the wiring all the way to the speakers, a lot of amps will cut out if you cross polarities. I did an install on my BMW and had the same type of issue with a SoundStream amp. I ran the wires too close to the seat track so if I leaned the wrong way it would short out and the amp would clip off

The other possiblity is the battery drain may be cutting it out. I'm not a professional installer so i'm not sure this even applies to new/newer cars but if the battery is low and the alternator is having to work to keep it charged the amp just doesnt get enough juice.

maybe your amp is getting too hot? some amps will shut off and go into protective mode when they get too hot.
where do you have it mounted at?

Check the ground yes... Check at the battery if the ring terminals getting corroded...and check the power and ground connections on your amp with a volt meter..see what kind of voltage your amps getting. if it's under 10 volts (usually ground problem) your amp will shut itself off..

well i checked wires again and ground everything's good, so i went to the stereo shop to ask 20 questions. I guess my amp is too small to power these subs at high volumes, cause the bass only cuts out once i go past 2/3 volume lvl. but why did it work fine before at high volume?

amp is stable up to 2 ohms, which is the way the stereo shop set it up, and it ran fine, then it started messing up recently so i switched wires on amp to run at 4 ohms, sub is rated at 4 ohms. i think subs are single voice coils. at 2 ohms amp is rated 2x120 and at 4 ohms 2x60, but subs still cut out running at 4 ohms, just as with running at 2.

What amp is it specifically.. and you can't switch an amp from 2 to 4 ohms.. that's impossible. What you do is wire the subs differently to present a different load to the amp.. sounds like your running the amp in 2ohms mono..which is not good. Most likely your amp is only 4ohm mono stable 2 ohm stereo stable..

Ahh Coustic.. their amps are historically problem laden.. the amps also only 4ohm mono stable....No clue what could be wrong..but you may wanna upgrade if it's giving you troubles..
