Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
In my 01 EX Coupe the speakers are factory and I want some new ones. I have an Alpine head unit, an Alpine amp for the door speakers and a kicker amp for my sub so I'm covered on all bases except door and rear deck speakers.
For the front I like these Infinity Reference Components but also like these Alpines, which ones would you choose and why?
For the rear it looks like the only Alpines or Infinity's that work are the components. I dont need those in the rear. Any advice on that one?

Re: Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
I'd choose the Alpine set myself, mainly due to the brand continuity. Things usually sound better that way. The depth on those are slightly less than my Rockfords, shouldn't have fitment issues if you use metal shears to open up the factory hole a bit lower. For the rear i'd use either a good set of Kicker or Alpine 6x9's in your case. You only want to have to do that once!!

Re: Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
when i had infinity reference they were some of the best speakers ive ever heard (running off an amp ofcourse, and proper sound deadening in the panels). yours are 6.5 front and 6x9 rear. i was running an alpine deck and alpine 4 channel amp at the time.

Re: Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
Thanks for the quick replies guys. I like keeping things the same throughout too but in my old car with the amps and sub I will be using I had Infinities and it sounded sick (IMO). I guess I was searching the wrong size for the rears. Ill check the 6x9 and see what pops up.
Re: Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
you don't need 6×9s you can just cut out a templet so you can use components in the rear also those speakers are a better price here http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ce-5030cs.html

Because I'm Biased, and to me, they sound better than any of the infinity lineups
To me, infinity tries too hard to push bass out of their speakers, making the highs/mids sound terrible
And seeing that you'll be pushing a sub, you'll have no need for them
I would also not put any rear 6x9's
Do you already have a sub? or looking into one as well?

i got alpines 117, pdxf4 and kappa perfects6.5 in the doors...i find if anything, the tweets are bright and the bass is tight. i would have to say i love them though...CRYSTAL clear highs. i havent heard the polks tho.
im actually going put another set in the rear.

Now I just need some front speakers.

Re: Speakers in 01 EX Coupe
I finally finished putting the system together a few days ago with a pait of new in box infinity 5020s 5.25" components for the front. Im pretty proud since this is a decent set up that I pieced together for $110 instead of ~$400 brand new off of crutchfeild. Granted I already had the sub and amps im still very happy with myself!
