DIY Rear & Front Speakers

I'm installing 6-1/2" Boston Acoustics in the rear deck & front doors. I was told I will need special mounting brackets and a wire harness to install the speakers in the rear deck. Is this true? Is this something I can make myself?
I was also told that I need to make a special spacer out of MDF for the front doors so the windows will roll all the way down. What are the specs of the spacer?

i have 6.5s in the rear, you don't need to do anything to install those, and you don't need a harness. simply install, cut the stock wires, and solder onto the leads on the speaker. for the front, that's a little trickier, i just have a plastic 1/2" spacer, and i have 5.25s in the front. i don't know about 6.5s but i'd love to find out cause i want to put 6.5 components in the front. as for the connection, same deal, just cut and solder. you can make a harness if you really want, but that sounds to me like a pain.

well, if you go to wal-mart and go to the hardware section, they sell a wiring kit that includes wire strippers and a whole bunch of wire connectors. there should be some connectors that would just slide right on the the speaker connections, and you'd just have to crimp the wires into those connectors. how's that sound?
