Ok, so I go to get my car inspected today and the scanner cannot read from my obd port, so I go home and find that port 16 has no power. I track that back to a broken wire under the dash, and repair that. I now have power to my OBD port, we will se if I pass an emissions test tomorrow.

Problem.

So now that that is fixed all sorts of electrical gremlins have surfaced.

My gauge lights don't come on now when the headlights are switched on, and my turn signals and little lights no longer light up with the headlights on. The turn signals do work when I am trying to signal a turn.

I have spent the last 5 hours trying to find a short and have been unsuccessful. Please could anyone help me with this issue. I have gone through every connection with my meter, and done continuity testing on everything that I know would connect. I have found no blown fuses, and am on the brink of loosing my mind.

you could disconect the wire, to drive to emissions, then connect it to test. can't they just go old school with you and stick the vacum on the back?

no, it is strictly OBD port. I have had nothing but issues with shorts in this car. The previous owner installed their own stereo and they were an idiot. I have completely re-wired that and isolated any shorts there, but I am finding damaged wires in the strangest locations. I swear, If you dont know what you are doing with electronics, please leave it alone. I should just re-wire the entire car, haha, Complete wire tuck.

Kinda sounds like the MCU is fried.
