New member, read me!
Hey guys im new to the forum, I have used this page for reference from time to time such as changing my timing belt. I have a question for you guys that no other thread seems to answer. I know its not an earth shaking system but hey it was given to me and nothing is wrong with it so I'm just putting it to good use.
Ive been given some subs, two amps for free and am getting ready to purchase some stuff to get the ball rolling.
MTX TA421D 361 watts X 1 channel 2ohm (via certificate)
Kenwood KAC-646X 25 watts X 4 channel 4ohm
*I dont have much info on the subs, they are infinity 12inch subs, i figure both are 4 ohm since the gotta be wired to a one channel amp(421D) or am I wrong.*
So my max RMS would/could be 461 watts correct???
My hooptie is 2001 civic, I've read the stock alt puts out 70amps; would running 461watts RMS be OK to run? Seems like it would be no sweat, but hey what do I know...
I also have an opportunity to get a Kinetik HC600 Power Cell for a really good price.
http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/pro...p?P=KHC600&C=1
Tell me what you guys think. If the ball gets rolling i'll be glad to put on some installation pics for reference or anything. thanks.

500RMS for our civics is nothing
Kenetics are power cells, not batteries, if you replace your batt with a power cell, cranking may be reduced
Power cells are secondary batterys (like a strong capacitor) to power audio systems
I looked at the specs of the MTX TA 421D:
It's rated at 150RMS 4ohm, and 300RMS 2ohm
Assuming you have dual coil infinity 4ohm subs, you can wire them to 2 ohm to achieve 300watts rms

Ah I did not know the diff b/t power cells and batteries, now I do.
Thanks a bunch!!

Re: New member, read me!
Most audio ratings are underrated because of their "stability". most amps can push more than they say they can.
Read this DIY to properly set your amp
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...-tutorial.html
Btw, if you're planning to run both amps, i would look into a 0~2 gauge wiring kit, and a distribution block

If I do upgrade I'll put in some research. But not anytime soon "in this economy" im really glad i dont have to purchase anything major for something i got for free.
I've rigged up solo amps before, +i can use a DIY here for my civ, but I've never hooked up TWO amps w/dual amp kit. Is there anything specific for installing two amps to be aware of when installing it?

I found this exact representation, minus the capicitor and +1woofer, of the system i'll be running on crutchfield.
I dont have to get a ground block right. Can't I just ground the both amps straight to the chassis? Oh and my HU has 3preamp pairs of RCA (Pioneer DEH-780mp) so I can run seperate RCA's to both amps.

Yea, you dont have to get a ground distribution block, but either ground both amps at different locations, or have the ground terminal of the mono amp under the ground terminal of the 4 channel amp
so, ground of mono amp closer to chassis

Re: New member, read me!
ground distribution block is cheap, i might as well get one lol. im probably gonna rig one under passenger seat, and the other on the sub box. Ive only installed subwoofers and have no experience with speakers. When its all said and done, what do i do with the stock speaker wire that unused? Just cap it?

Well, its an adapter, so you dont have to seal it up with electric tape or anything, i'd just leave it hanging in the door, or wrap it in some kind of foam to prevent it from knocking around in the door

Re: New member, read me!
Just got done putting the subs in, and theres plenty of room, trunk lid closes and all. Everything is a GO from here it seems like. When I get all the stuff ordered and lined up i'll take pics of the install when the time comes and post it. Thanks a lot guys this forum is awesome.
