Hi there,

I have a '97 honda civic EX and I'm trying to find out what is a really good brand of car stereo deck with cd/ipod assc. I don't know on the questions to ask the people at best buy... I want something that doesn't drain my car battery.... also how do i remove the orignal car deck? if possible pls supply a diagram thanks..

alpine makes nice decks. If you don't care much about CDs, their ida-x--- series are really nice. I have an iDA-X100 in my car, and I leave one of my ipods hooked up to it 24/7

otherwise, their cda-98xx head units are nice, too

okay thanks, yea I would love that option of cd, but i also really do like the idea of the ipod accessory plug... So say, if I wanted to keep my orginal speakers cause they work fine, Will that model for example work with the stalk speakers? and also is this a DIY or is it hard to do? I've never removed a car stereo deck before... This is my very first car..

Say how do you feel about boss decks are they good, or over priced..?

Also I would like to ask you if that's okay, is there anything that I have to watch out or to stay away from when it comes to the types of stereo decks out there?

All decks work with stock speakers

a 97 is not hard to change deck, i believe theres a DIY on this forum for that model

Alpines are okay for decks, but I personally, would go with pioneer or sony

Sony has a brand new line of decks (DSX-S300, S200, and S100) that has a little pocket INSIDE the deck to hold your ipod to charge and play music through, really awesome

Boss, from what i've seen is sort of like Dual's. Not name or quality brand, just a generic brand. I would typically stay away from those you can buy at walmart
