Radio turns off for a split second when i shut the car off??
Got a good stumper here. Got a 2004 Civic LX Coupe, and when I shut my car off, and turn the key one spot back, the radio turns off for a split second and then comes back on. Now I thought when you turn your car off, the radio is supposed to stay on. I took a trip this last weekend and was using my GPS through the 12 volt accessory plug and noticed that when I shut my car off with the plug in use, the radio did not shut off! Any suggestions as to why the radio shuts off when I'm not using the accessory plug? I've checked fuses (all fine), it's an aftermarket stereo but I've been installing them for over 10 years now, I'm pretty sure it's not my hook up. Is there some kind of switch thats internal that I'm missing? Thanks.

kc8ktq - Yeah, my stock radio also did this. It didn't do this when I bought the thing, then all of a sudden it started to act up.
I posted some videos on Youtube if it helps to give an idea of what I'm talking about.

I know you can't see anything, but the point is to hear it. Might have to turn up the volume a little, video is from my phone.

Re: Radio turns off for a split second when i shut the car off??
Update: Drove home last night over some railroad tracks and the radio completely shut off. I had everything ripped apart to check connections on the radio and everything was good. Could a relay cause electrical issues? I've read that they tend to go out because of their location to the heater. Is there any truth to this?
Re: Radio turns off for a split second when i shut the car off??
Final Update: Well I spent $50 on four new relays and changed them out today. Kept the aftermarket stereo in, turned it on and it still cut out for a second. So I decided to put the stock stereo back in since the dealer won't even try to diagnose with the aftermarket stereo in, and lo and behold, it doesn't do it now. I really don't understand. Is it the relays? Is it the stereo? I am completely dumbfounded. So I guess it's the stock stereo for now until it decides to do it again and then I'll take it to the dealer to look at.
