if i buy a component set

and the tweeters are separate, obviously there's no where to mount them in any stock position. If i buy a component system without tweeters that tilt and what not, where's the best place to mount them. i was thinking of cutting into the door high up by the handle and mounting them there but i want them to project correctly.

Re: if i buy a component set

you can mount the tweeters in your pillars at ear level .if you have power mirrors you can mount them on the mirror sail cover and like you pointed out on the door by the handle thats were o mounted mine.most high end kits come with two or three mounting attachments inset, flush and raised for the tweeters.

actually i have an extra set of stock tweeter panels in great condition if you want to buy those. With a little cutting my ZR tweeters fit in them perfectly

Re: if i buy a component set

i mounted mine closer to the handle so there wouldn't be a uge gap from the curvature off the door panel. but mine are multi directional. i will recommend you get something with a soft dome silk tweeter they sound the best.

is a soft dome silk tweeter just a less harsh tweeter? i don't get it haha. i want sound quality not loud. of course i will be amping my speakers and what not so it will be loud but I'm not going to buy anything harsh sounding.

Re: if i buy a component set

If i do mount them there on the door, which is what i prefer, if they don't swivel does the sound project correctly? assuming i put them on the part of the door that doesn't curve toward me. I don't want that gap

Sound quality is what i'm going for, im about to sound deaden the crap out of this car.

Re: if i buy a component set

Again you could mount them where they are supposed to go because i have an extra set of the stock clip in tweeter mounts, you take off yours, screw in teh tweeters to them, then clip them in. 30 bucks shipped in the upper 48.

Re: if i buy a component set

well i usually have mine pointed straight forward like a non swivel would be it sounds the same just not as loud. i actually prefer them that way but if you have electronic mirrors then buy that guys sail panals thats what i would have done if i didn't have manual mirrors withe the adjustment stick thingy.

Re: if i buy a component set

sedan has 6.5 inch all around, coupes have 6.5 front and 6x9 rear. not all types of speakers will fit, some are too big and have clearance issues in the trunk, and many front speakers need a spacer otherwise the window will hit the speaker when you roll it down.

click on the DIY in my sig for the front speakers. you'll see about using a spacer.
