Radio Help

I am trying to install a radio in my brothers car 97 mitsubishi galant (not a honda I know lol) but I have a general question. When I connect the ignition and hot at all times wire in the appropriate spots like the directions say the illumination stays on at all times. When I reverse them and put them in the wrong position according to the directions it works fine. Now my question is will this mess up the radio, also does it have anything to do with the radio harness not having an illumination or dimmer. Where should I put these wires since the radio Doesnt have it?

Re: Radio Help

Do you have a proper harness for the wire install? It sounds like the wires are reversed to me for some reason if it works properly when its connected the "bad" way then I would just leave it. As long as it works properly is better than leaving it on all the time. As far as the illum. wire, if the deck does not have it then just tape it off and leave it to the side. I installed my Alpine IVA W203 and it had the same deal, illum wire on the harness but not on the deck. Most decks nowadays have their own brightness settings.

Hope that helps.
