04 Civic doesn't recognize changer/aux
04 Civic doesn't recognize changer/aux
I have one of those converters that plugs my iPod into the CD Changer / AUX port of the stock stereo. It has worked fine in the past by pressing the CD button twice to activate the disc changer mode, but now no longer works. The odd thing is that the converter still draws power to charge the iPod, but pressing the CD button however many times doesn't activate the auxiliary mode. Is there something I can do to get the stereo to "recognize" it? Will I have to tear the dash apart?

Try plugging the cord that runs from the iPod to the stereo into another device. Leave it plugged into the iPod but plug it into a home stereo and see if you get sound. If not, you have a bad cord. If you do I would try just plugging it back in and if still nothing try like a different MP3 player.

i had this problem before, and you have to press the reset button after making the connections. i think the reset is somewhere on the stereo or your ipod or both. when i added a changer to an older accord and used conversion cable, it was not recognized at all after turning everything on. pressed the reset, and now it works perfect all the time. anytime you disconnect power, it seems you would have to do it. my alpine stereo in my civic is the same way if i unplug it from constant power, it gets all weird next time and doesnt work quite right til i hit reset.
one other thing with your ipod...make sure you are plugging in and turning on the ipod BEFORE the stock radio comes on.
