Recommendations for a Sub 10" or 12"
I am only going to purchase one sub, either a 10" or 12". Can anyone recommend a good quality one from $100-275? I will power it with a MTX 4250D or a 6500D if my electrical system can handle it in addition to my MTX 6304 4 channel. Right now there is no headlight or dash light dimming when it plays loud.

Also Memphis Studio's
kicker L7's are not SPL subs, they are designed for sound quality first..in small sealed enclosures they sound about as good as a sub can..Ported though they lose their SQ fast..
Eclipse Alum, is about one of the top 5 best sounding subs of all time. 1 Eclipse alum and 1 MTX6500D will Bump like crazy and sound sweet..but it's more pricey than your range..
a JL 12w3D4 would be about the best price to sound and SPL you can get... Also if you can get a deal on Eclipse 8700's (polished plastic cones) and put them in a small ported enclosure it'll rattle your guts with deep bass.. Play louder than you can handle.. and sound pretty good...
Give us more info on what your looking for.. Something for serious sound quality.. Something just for bumping..decent sound decent SPL... Or something to rallte your guts??..
Cheers

If you have no problem buying from eBay, you can find a good deal on the eclipse there. I just bought an eclipse 88120dvc
for $199.99 + S&H. I think eBay rocks! I've bought my front components, sub, and amps from eBay, never had a problem!
and no... I don't work for eBay, heh. I just love getting stuff cheap there! Got the mtx 6500d for 245.00 (with S&H) today!

which is why they made it square. cause a square sub has more cone area, thus allowing for more SQ.
also you got all teh hardcore SQ fanatics who go nuts over 6x9's, 5x7's, L7 and bazooka subs, cause round speakers dond "sound" as good as speakers with odd shapes.
im thinking typo perhaps, mowhawk?
infinity perfects im told dont get very loud unles you give em a boatload of power.... thats why the most standard SQ setup (back in teh day) was a pair of perfects on a JBL 1200.1. they really needed those 600 watts to get tehm moving.......
edit: but noone has ever questioned then as a HARDCORE SQ sub...... but not SQL

and your electrical system can "handle" kilowatts of power, its jsut the battery takes over when teh alternator cant hack it. that is "handling" the current draw....... its jsut that some people cant "handle" the lights dimming
and thats why they upgrade.
light dimming dont bother you? dont worry about your E-system

I want to spend a max of $250 on one 12" sub. I have narrowed it down to these 4.
JL Audio W3D4
Orion XTR 12
Audiomobile EVO 12
Image Dynamics IDQ12 DVC
Any Suggestions?

XTR is the only woffer i can tell you about from PERSONAL experience. great midbass driver, but if you want low frequency extension, the woffer is a JOKE. will save you money on an amp, tho, since it doesnt need alot of power, a decent sub to go with an otherwise stock stereo.
the evo LOOKS the best IMO, but a bit pricey, the owner of audiomobile is an ***, but that doesnt mean anything about thier products. its a great woofer. i dont know how it compares to an IDQ, but my buddy up north ditched his EVO for an IDMAX. so IDMAX is probably a better purchase, but comparing an EVO to IDQ, i really dont know. i dont know jack about IDQ.
the JL is midlevel. ive never really been impressed with JL, other than the fact you can beat teh w0 to junk and itll still go, but i have yet to really hear a nice JL system. =/ if you go SOLELY by why very knowledgable people run in their systems, JL makes better 10's than 12's, cause everyone ive talked to says when they modeled up 10's, they played LOWER than the 12's!
if it were ME, id still consider the shiva, but as to YOUR choice, without doing any more research, id take teh EVO. certainly the expensive way out, but well known to be a quality woofer.
why not consider a shiva, or an elemental designs 12? both (all three) very good woofers, i dont know how much better the a series elemental 12 is supoosed to be than the k series, but the prices are certainly right for teh performance you get!

Of those the EVO and IDQ are the 2 I'd be torn between.. ABoth are Great sounding high impact subs.. the IDQ wins in price..but the EVO wins in appearance and SPL( with enough power of course)..
