2001 Stock HU - anyone made a aux input without buying and adapter

I have a 2001 Civic LX with a stock casette deck and a Alpine CD changer in the trunk. I want to wire it for an aux inpit for a MP3 player. Has onyone done this? is there a way to do it without loosing the changer? I want to wire it myself rather than buying an adapter.

I'm unsure as to how to do it, but I really think you'd just be best off buying a simple adapter. I don't think they're very expensive.

If not, maybe you can use the input from the CD changer and just make sure the CD changer is off when you use your AUX. Don't know what format the input is in though...
