Re: alpine type R's installation

The 6x9s will fit with a 1/2" spacer. The 6 1/2s will be a bitch to fit in. I would get the 5 1/4s and then you still need a 1/2" spacer.

You may want to consider trading the 6 1/2s for a different brand. I love alpine, got a full setup, but other 5 1/4s will fit much easier.

the box says that it is recommended to disconnect the stock tweeter if it is connected in parallel with the speaker.. but there were no problems when u connected urs? but either way i was hopin to hear that it fits and i did.. lol thanks EnvyX.

if you use the normal spacer that crutchfield sends (or the equivalent) it's a 1" spacer and you should be fine. you'd probably be fine with the 3/4" spacer that i made in my DIY thread.

Re: alpine type R's installation

i just installed all 4 speakers today. the fronts i used the provided spacer made especially for honda's but it still wouldnt fit in properly. i tried wiggling the speaker in but i couldnt get all 4 mountin holes lined up. instead of forcing it in i had to make the hole bigger in the door so the back of the speaker would fit in easily.
the rears would fit in but it would almost touch the trunk springs so i just used the provided spacer to be safe. i didnt have time to put the rear shelf back on to see if theres clearance on the speaker but im pretty positive it should be ok.
just heads up to other people who want to get these speakers
