SE 05 Radio
SE 05 Radio
Hey, I was wondering if anyone stuck the Special Edition Radio in their civic that wasn't an SE model? I saw the change to get one really cheap but was wondering if it was going to fit ok in my 04 Civic.
Re: SE 05 Radio
Will fit directly in any civic 1999-2005. Have one in my 2004. Stock bezel is hardly noticeable. While an impressive show at night, is extremely difficult to see clock, etc in bright daylight, especially with headlamps on, just like looking at a mirror. Is factory sound quality, not for audiophiles. Best factory system I heard was a Mark Levison in a Lexus convertible. Get the right colour for your coupe(orange) or sedan (green)

Re: SE 05 Radio
i got one in my 02..
/\/\ sedan ones are hard to find. i was lucky to find one for $100 shipped off ebay, even though it is for a coupe (anyone with a sedan radio in their coupe want to trade?!?). no problems what-so-ever with it!
the display DOES dim when the headlights are on, but you can make it bright again by pushing and holding the 'DISP' button until it beeps (5 seconds i believe)
I noticed a significant increase in sound quality. it is Plug and play. i like it because it doesn't look stock. all my friends ask what brand it is...
radio bezel isn't necessary....if you want pics of what it looks like with the stock one, just ask...there is just an corner edge rather than a smooth slope down in to the radio. (having seen the SE civics, i kind of prefer the bezel i have around it)
any other questions abuot it, feel free to IM me.

Re: SE 05 Radio
i have a 2005 civic se that HAD the 6 disk changer in it. i swapped out the changer for a avic-d3 pioneer, but the trim around the double din slot ( the trim that holds the a/c controls and stuff) does not house the metra trim kit properly. i realized that the metra trim kit for double din radios works on all 2005 civics EXCEPT the special edition. if i were to swap out the trim that holds the a/c controls, if i were to swap that with a trim from another civic like the LX or something, would it fit in my civic ex se coupe? are the dashboards different besides the changer?

Re: SE 05 Radio
i think coupe radio has the amber light, sedan has green. and if you really get lucky, the jdm version is all black instead of silver and has multi color display.
