infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
Hello everyone!
I'm planning on replacing my speakers in my 2007 Civic Ex. I believe I killed them probably because from bumping too much. Well anyways, I'm debating on whether I should go with the type r's or kappa's. I'm thinking of replacing all the speakers in the car two tweeters, four speakers, and probably get an amp. One more thing, should I replace my deck on my civic or stick with it? It seems fine to me,but others have told me to replace it to make it sound better perhaps? Well, I just want to know which one is better and is the better bang for the buck. Thanks guys.
Cheers.

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
judging from your past, i would say get the kappas. and they must have an amp to them ofcourse. should be enough to make your ears bleed lol. get a 4 channel amp, and get components up front that have tweeter and woofer, that way you can run all four front and rear off the same amp.

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
i am running Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6"x9" 3-way in the rear and Infinity Kappa 63.7i 6-1/2" 3-way in the front.
all pushed by a infinity ref. 600w amp. with a pioneer premier 7900BT...
sounds freaking amazing....its loud, crisp, clean, bassy...and way awesome...
(i also have dynomat xtream patched up)

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
Well, I was playing with the infinity components and the type r components at best buy today and the infinity sounds crisper than the alpine. I was considering the type X components but heard that infinity speakers sound better. I'd say go with the kappa's but if you got the money, get the kappa perfects
thats what I'm about to order.

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
I have Alpine Type R's 2-way's all the way around...sounds amazing......I used to have Infinity Kappa 3 way's all the way around in my volvo...they sound amazing too....lol.....im sure this doesnt help....but they are both great speakers.....its just a matter of personal choice. I chose Alpine this time because I got both sets for speakers for $170, which is a steal for 3 years ago.
Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
i have type r coaxils getting 100rms each. they have a .75" spacer. They are incredibly clear, clean, and enough bass. Pure accurate soundquality. Not your "Warm" sound you may or may not be looking for. I wish I had gotten components (and I will be soon) so that the vocals would be up at ear level for low volumes.
On a side note, with that muchh power going to them, or if i turn the amp up, the speaker excursion after a certain point actually hits the door panel.

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
I have infinity kappas in my ride, so I'm going to have to vouch for them. Whatever you do, just make sure you run a seperate amp for the speakers, it'll sound a lot better that way.
Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
I sell these units every day as my high end choices... Id say if ur lookin for a crystal clear sound go for the infinity KAPPAS, but if your wanting the loudest possible, the Alpine type R's have a higher RMS Wattage than the Infinitys. Me personally right now i own the infinity reference component fronts and ref 6 by 9 in the rear. Soon will be upgraded to the ininity kappa components.

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
Why doesn't anyone like good speakers.. what about DLS?? and Seas?? and Elemental Designs.. you are forgetting ED has components that sound better than the Kappas for only $95... and some components that rival the best speakers in the world for relatively cheap.. im talking up to 140w rms.. pre-order for $185.. look into getting some real Bang for your buck.. please..
Also, if you want to keep the stock head unit you can.. easily.. i did.. just get a rear speaker channel to RCA converter.. theyre usually under $40.. then run the RCA's to the amp.. and if you plan to have subs of any kind.. generally you will drown out the rear speakers... so you only need a front sound stage..
Definitely invest in some deadener...

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
not really. but i just installed the kappa perfect's 6.1. they sound nice, clear and crisp. Thought they would be louder... but maybe i'm just becoming more deaf.
also on the rear speaker part, I'm filtering all the bass out, mounting my stock tweeters back there and just playin all vocals... no point of bass since my sub is back there. and no point in investing any money since yes, the subs do overpower the vocals.

also, using a LOC w/ the stock civic deck = crap...you're wasting your money if you're using a LOC w/ your Seas speakers

Very pricey though. If you're into SQ and If you want very high end components, look into Focal, Dynaudio, Morel, Rainbow Audio, Seas, MB Quart, Polk Audio, Image Dynamics, etc...Only thing is, you're gonna be spending more money. I'm not saying anything bad about Alpine Type Rs and Infinity Kappas. I'm saying there is better. I personally own Kappa components. Great bang for the buck. Especially with employee discount. Definitely better than stock speakers. Just remember to sound deaden the crap out of your doors if you want good midbass response.
I'm assuming you've already gotten the Kappas, but hey, say you wanted to upgrade later down the line, here are some great places to get some info:

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
I believe he knows what he's talking about. Seas makes amazing components. Here's a website that sells their stuff:

yes, i know of those brands and i never said they were bad...however, the guy said he used a LOC. if you understand how a loc works, you'd know that they'd defeat the purpose of having such an expensive set of components...the guy also mentioned that some cheaper lines were superior just because they have big power ratings. wrong again...i love how most people think their shiet sounds good just because it was expensive or has huge power ratings

Re: infinity kappa speakers vs. alpine type r's
im looking for an excuse to get new speakers, but the 8 year old infinity reference speakers wont die! lol they still sound great even with how nasty and old they look, and a couple of em have torn surrounds but the bass still pounds. its just such a hassle changing the rears so im not gonna bother for now.
