OEM Honda Alarm issue (re-arming)
OEM Honda Alarm issue (re-arming)
I just installed the OEM Honda alarm into my 04 LX coupe. It works great, just one issue that I am experiencing.
If I disarm the alarm and only open the trunk the car attempts to re-arm the alarm because I have not opened the doors within 30 seconds of pressing "unlock". This re-arm attempt causes the alarm to honk the horn 3 times which is kind of annoying.
Anyone else have this issue? what can I do to prevent the keyless entry system from trying to re-arm the alarm in this case? Its almost like the two systems are acting in opposing manners. The keyless system wants to re-arm because the doors havent been opened but this would cause the alarm to re-arm. However the alarm wont let the doors lock and re-arm because the trunk is open.......
Any thoughts would be appreciated, btw I looked at the manual and it doesnt help. Per the manual it doesnt look like it should re-arm if the trunk is open.

Re: OEM Honda Alarm issue (re-arming)
I have the same problem with mine on an 01 ex coupe using the oem alarm. It just does that.
The reason you have to disarm the alarm before you get into the trunk is the system is not smart enough (aka lacks the capability) to know that you're opening the trunk with your key. Try it without disarming, and the alarm goes off.
This is actually pretty common. My subaru before did the exact same thing.
