speakers crackling when the bass hits

hey guys ive got a few dumb questions. i bought some monster speaker cable today and cant tell which wire is negative and which wire is positive. could someone please help me out on this one. also when my bass hits, my speakers dont sound like they are hitting as hard as they should. they sort of crackle and sound crappy but almost good. kinda hard to explain, does anyone know what this could be? thanks

I have that crackling sound, I just figured that the speakers blow, looking into replacing them

what do you mean by "clipping". should i adjust the gain up or down? thanks for your help by the way.

Clipping means your sending straight DC signals to your sub.. adjust your gain setting to a higher voltage..

Direct Current.....one way voltage.. Music and sound is all A/C Alternating current..

if the gains too high it's going to try to send a stronger signal than the amp can put out..this is what causes clipping.. what amp is it?

rockford fosgate 150s model i believe. i have it bridged to push a 12 inch kicker comp. its all brand new so im sure its not defective.

your kicker comps..are the the 4ohm SVD..or 4ohm DVC?
