Hello guys,
I have a 2005 Civic Sedan and want to know whats the largest sub box i can fit in there? Max width, height, and dept dimensions that can fit in there without removing anything.
Thanks,

ruler. or you can google in to find out specs on your car. i had a huge box in mine for 2 15's at one point. its a tight fit but u can manage it with a little patience. its just heavy as hell and probably not worth it. why do u want such a big box anyways?

Re: Largest sub box size?
look at the max demensions..now take off about...6 inches off of each side. and that will let u know what size box u can take in an out with no problem. which seems pointless to me anyway. what kind of 15s are u gona use. the bigger the box doesnt always mean the better the sound. what do u hope to accomplish. u can fit 2 15's with a small size box. its not like 15s wont fit. but u really dont need a box thats gona be the max size of ur trunk.

Re: Largest sub box size?
The 15s will be in a sealed box, even a box thats 34" wide 15" high and 15" deep would only provide 1.7 cubes each, for optimal sound these subs need 2.25 - 2.5 cubes each. I am not trying to just simply cram the biggest box possible.
subtracting 6 from the max possible dimensions is just plain stupid because I know the max width is about 34" and max height is 15" I pretty much want to know what the max depth I can fit in there.
And theres no way to actually figure out what size box will fit in and out of the opening without actually trying it so stop saying tape measure. I was just hoping someone here had actually built a large box and had some input instead of some smartasses increasing their post count with useless posts that don't help.

Re: Largest sub box size?
The problem is that depending on the height, different depths will fit in the opening (picture how it's going to hit the floor when you put it in the opening). If you set on a 15 height, then make a template out of a peice of cardboard. Make it 15 inches high, and LONGER then you think you'll have the depth. slide it into the trunk perpedicular to the floor on it's edge. When it gets stuck, that's your max depth. Just get out you're trusty tape measure...
If you're not happy with that size, then try a smaller height and do the same.

How big is your trunk? That's how big it can be, as you can use a baffle board and the entire trunk would be your enclosure. Personally, I'd check the TS parameters and figure my box then see if it would fit in there.

This is a sealed box for 2 15" CVRs
min is 1.8 each, max is 5.2 each according to kicker.
im planning on giving them about 2.25 cubes each.

Re: Largest sub box size?
i hate when people make a thread and then get mad at all the responses.. look at what u posted dude. u asked what is the max height. if u wanted to know if anybody had the largest box possible, then u shouldve asked that. instead u ask whats the biggest a box can be? alot of us probably dont know becuz we've never tried. be mroe specific about what u really want, for that kinda question we might as well tell u to do it urself and let us know.

i have a 15 l7 solobaric in a 4.5 cu ft box.its a really tight fit. the box is
32x17 3/4x19.like i said it is a tight fit.i spent like an hour or two getting it to fit but the sound is really good.it hits like noneother.but it weighs like 80 some odd pounds.

Re: Largest sub box size?
maybe you could fit a bigger box in the trunk if you put it thru the back seat gap...i cant measure it right now but if you want me to ill get back to you tomorrow...but it might be a big pain in the *** if you need to change a tire since you cant just simply pull the box out the back

Re: Largest sub box size?
you know that there are calculations of size to optomize the performance of the subwoofer based on resistance and power and throw and alot of other things. doing these calcs and building the airspace required will save you alot of trouble, and make your subs sound better, if your box is too big, the subs have less air resistance, and it makes them throw farther, but sound worse and wear out alot faster. use the box size recommended for your sub. you might even be able to put stuff in your trunk if you do it right, or you could have enough room to build a false bottom in it to put your weed in.
Re: Largest sub box size?
34" wide isn't gonna cut it. If you use 3/4 MDF wood, you have to take displacement into consideration, that comes out to about an extra 3 inches. Plus the diameter of the sub isn't actually 15", it's wider than that, depending on brand. You need a least 36" width, and that isn't gonna fit. I spent 3 weeks figuring out how to do this, but there's no way to get the box in there. I built about 6 cardboard boxes, and the smallest one would not even fit.
Re: Largest sub box size?
no dude, i've seen two 15's in a 2005 si coupe before., what would be sweet is if you made two separate boxes on the sides and fiberglassed them, i've got mdf ones for 10's and they look good. or you could just get rid of one of your subs, buy a couple tens, and put all three in there, and actually get some decent sound quality.
note: the box I saw had the subs facing slightly away from eachother, like a slight triangle, and the front was sloped down about 45deg.
