Need info on good sub boxes
Need info on good sub boxes
I currently have a scorpion bandpass box for 2 10"s, one of the boards came loose, so i fixed it, and now the other board came loose! So i'm gonna get rid of this P.O.S. and get a good box, preferrably bandpass, but maybe sealed. What is the best box to get (brandname) in ya'lls opinion? I'm lookin for reliability, price don't matter.

there's no Brand name best.. also you'd want a box specifically tunes to your subs t/s parameters..and not a bandpass .. you need low end extension.. with a bandpass you just don't get it.. Want the extra output of a bandpass.. the sound quality of sealed .. go with a small ported enclosure and get great low end extension.. what subs you running?

bandpass most of the time makes a 1 note wonder so bandpass. sealed is probably the best way to go. that dont know how to build their own box
right now i just got the mtx 4000's, the reason i wanted bandpass is cause i listen to a lot of heavy metal, and some techno, but i heard that bandpass was better for metal than sealed. I just want somethin that pounds good on metal.

90% of what I listen to is Havy Metal.. and bandpass enclosures really suck for heavy metal.. for techno, Trance, bandpasses are great..
For metal most kickdrum notes are under 40hz..which bandpasses generally don't cover too well at all. For metal..you wanna go ported..tuned to 33hz or so..
AHH.. Just checked the T/S parameters on those subs.. you want to go Bandpass most defiantely..( I Can't beleive I'm saying this).. Wait.. better Idea.. use the $$ you'd spend on a bandpass get a single much better 12 in a saled enclosure ..

stiggy.. Bandpasses generally play between 40and 70hz befre they drop off fast..which most trance and techno play at.. a well tuend bandpass will play this music quite well (in a well tuned bandpass enclosure)..in your average pre-fab bandpass..it's a hit and miss.. some will match the tuning fo the subs..others will sound horrible..) Sealed always sounds better in the rght air space..but Bandpasses have alot higher output.
