6.5" JL VR's

Hey I took off my doors in my '03 Civic Sedan and then realized the speakers would not be an easy swap. I have JL Audio VR components. I found some 3/4" MDF and cut out a ring. I was going to countersink some bolts that would run through the door, then mount my speaker over top. Looks like I might need some additional space ~ 1/8" clearance so the speaker will mount flush (otherwise the it may run into the opening). Anyone have any clue as to how much space there is to spare between the mounting surface and the plastic grille on the door piece? I would hate to mount it all and realize I do not have enough clearance because the door interior is running into the speaker. I can't measure it for obvious reasons. Thanks for any help.

LOL, well I don't want to saw my door. The most I will do is drill through to mount a bracket.

I'll see what I can come up with in the next few days. I'll just add the 1/8" to the 3/4" spacer and hope I don't get any clearance issues.
