HELP

I need some help; i dunno what the hell to get!!! My grandpa owns the store I'll be shopping at, so price should be a problem :-P. He put in a sentrek 10" tube in my trunk a few weeks ago, and it's pretty awesome, considering the fact that I NEED my trunk space! So I have a few questions:
1. Should I get the Xplod 6x9's? I heard they're pretty good. If so, how in the hell do I get my deck lid off?!?
2. What reciever/head unit should I get? I'm kinda liking the Xplod that is all black, and when you push a button, it folds down with the help of a motor; buttons are on the inside. Is this any good? any other suggestions? How exactally do I install the reciever/head unit; it seems that the space the stock one fits in isn't quite the right shape....?
3. Is it worth it to replace the tweeters and/or the mid-ranges in the doors? If so, how do I get to those?

thanks A LOT everyone!!

hi,
I am by no means an expert on i.c.e but have been reading a lot of articles and reviews, have also only started with my mods.
My brother has the sony HU and is not that clean compared to my JVC SH77. The DIY link will answer your ? about HU instalation as with the speakers. Did mine not so long ago! Not a one hour job but well worth the effort, and feeling afterwards. As for the speakers , go with good aftermarket components ,this will drastically improve your soundstaging and midrange. The 6*9 in the back is not that important becausse they should only provide rear fill ,if they are too loud they will destroy the clean sound in the car.
How did you connect your sub to the factory HU? let me know
Also the REAL experts is Mohawkboom and the other guy's! Sony is not the best HU out there, why not do it right the first time.....

well, I didn't do the install of the sub myself, so I don't know exactly how it is wired. I'm pretty sure he just wired it to a rear channel and used a down converter because it has a built in amp

Tke a look in the DIY section for instalation tips. Those front speakers will need a spacer because of the weird shape of the hole, there is a good picture in DIY , you will know when you see it. Why not do the sound deadening in the ddors at the same time.......I still have to do mine but regret it now!
There is a wealth of info in this forum so go nuts!

all sony = crap but if you dont mind a cd-player that will skip when the bass hits

as far as rear speakers, you should not run ANYTHING! take out teh rear 6x9's your imaging will improve in the front, and the holes in back you open up all that space back thre for bass to enter teh cabin unobstructed...

edit: and YES you should replace the speakers in front, VERY worth it!

depending on your budget.

lower price:
pioneer
panasonic
some alpine, and clarion

higher end
eclipse
nakimichi (spelling:confused

the only real reason to have rear speakers is if you have a tv for surround sound.

well Sony is not all crap.. their older ES Amps were pretty awesome.. as is the CDX C90... But the Xplod stuff I fear is low quality junk with flashy color schemes..

What Other brands does your grandpa sell ..

And the 6X9's in the rear are pretty unnecessary..(seeing as you have a sub anywho the bit more lowe end extension won;t be needed at all)

And don;t listen to these guys..I'm not an Expert.. but I'm working on it

Thanks for all the help guys; can anyone tell me exactly WHY I don't need my 6x9's? A few people told me that ehy're unneccessary, so I believe it, I just wanna know that rationale behind it. Thanks!
