stuck... infinity

i have infinity components 6010cs but i dunno if i should get a 2 channel just for those or a 4channel and get some infinity reference speakers 6012i in the rear... i have a sedan and i have a basslink hooked up to my SE head unit..... im just in debate whether to go with a 4channel and the 6012i's or just to go with the components... stock in the rear and a 2 channel amp... also will 40 rms be good enough or 60.... (keep in mind the basslink)

i heard stocks in the rear and components in the front is good enough cuz the rear only fills or something... im confused...

was gonna say 4 channel for bass (most comes from rear), but you already have sub. so get 2 channel amp for components.

I have a sedan, and only upgraded my front speakers. It sounds great, and the stock rears are sufficient for rear fill.
2 channel and components are all you need.

will the mid range still be there? cuz right now stock it sounds nice with the sub turned down but wen i turn the volume up the bass fades im guessing because the speakers become distorted.... if i did get a 4 channel would i get 40W or 60?

components up front will have tons of midrange. the rear speakers are mostly for bass fill. for amp, get something that can give each speaker at least 1/2 their max rms wattage.

if you get rear infinity, they must be amped. i rely on my rear speakers to do the pounding cause i dont have a sub, so no way could i have stock back there. since you have sub already, theres no real need for good rears. stock running off deck will be fine for fill.

alright man i think ima just go ahead and trust u on this and go with a 2channel amp... hahah i was gonna go 4 channel but eh it makes sense that the sub fills in the bass and the rears would go to waste to be amped and all.... u have any amps in mind that would work well for my components... like brands and stuff.... im pretty lost on this stuff..... also how much would i be looking to spend around so i dont get ripped off by any local stores.... lol

hmm, very interesting thread. I'm looking to buy speakers for my sedan too. I already have a sub that pounds pretty hard, so hard that it drowns my mids and highs. I was thinking about getting Alpine Type-S speakers for both the doors and the rear deck. I was going to run all of them off of my head unit, but similar to what steven10 is wanting to do, I have a 2 channel amp laying around.

Option 1: Get the 4 speakers and run them off of the head unit
Option 2: Get the 4 speakers and run the front ones off of the 2 channel amp
Option 3: Get only 2 door speakers and run them off the head unit
Option 4: Get only 2 door speakers and run them off of the amp

Money is an issue to a poor boy like me, but I'll pay the extra $65 for the rear speakers if it'll make a big diff.

Steven10: sorry to somewhat jack your thread, but I guess we're in the same boat.

Thanks for helping US out.

Trust him, I went Alpine 4 channel amp... used it to power the fronts and sub, running my rear speakers off the deck I replaced all 4 speakers though.

cwo715 is just really nicecwo715 is just really nicecwo715 is just really nicecwo715 is just really nice
imo

i have Polk Momo Components up front and 2 way polk DB mids in the rear as well as the Basslink v2 (the square one). i did have only the fronts changed for awhile before i got money for the 2 rears and yea you can tell a difference, you could crank up the stereo and hear the stock speakers in back trying to keep up, I ran a 4 channel amp (75x4). I didnt want to not have rears because it sounded really bad. Ended up blasting the rears out and getting the dbs. so if you want to have great sound. change everything at once. infinity's are good. have them in my Integra (kappa fronts and reference rears with kappa tweeters)

basslink is a self powered sub... google it... its actaully really good sounding to me... hahah ... yah i changed my mind already ahahah and decided for sure ima just go 4 channel and do it all at once.... will the change of speakers help my bass hit harder from the sub since i will have more midbass?.... cuz right now turned up i guess the mids go away so teh sub isnt all that loud but turned down its great..... also... ebay is a good place to get my stuff? my last debate right now is kenwod 4 channel with 70 rms or alpine 4 channel with 40rms

I would recommend ebay, but only the sellers who have like 98.9% + good ratings. They usually have the best prices too. Maybe you can get a 5 channel amp from Alpine (model is "V12" I believe). Then you can run 4 speakers and then 1 sub. Maybe running an amp to the sub will give you the thump that you want.

if your comparing alpines MRP-F250 and kenwoods kac-8402. i had the alpine literally for a day hated it and i really like alpines amp but it just seemed like i was running off the deck. took it back and went up to the kenwood and like it so much better. also the kenwood is much bigger but has a a little more tuning options than the alpines level and bass boost. just my opinion though.
