I splurged...
I just bought a JVC KD LX-300 off of eBay for $183, two (2002 model) 12" Kicker Solobaric L7s for $400 with free shipping, a JBL BP-1200.1 (1200wRMS @ 2-ohms) for $263, and a JBL BP-150.1 for $110. The El Kameleon, the S12L7s, and the BP-1200.1 are going in my car, and then I have a person who is most likely buying the BP150.1 and some subs off of me. I am going to sell two 10" MTX's, two 10" Boston Rally's, and the BP-150.1 for $400 installed. If he doesn't buy 'em, I may use 'em. Since I do compete in the (rare in my town) SPL contests, I might just install all four of 'em in my Civic when I get it. I think two 12" L7s and four 10s would do some damage. Anyway, the main reason I posted this is to show that, even though I spent quite a bit on this stuff, I saved a lot of money! All of this stuff is brand new, sealed in the original boxes, and have full warranties! They are NOT refurbished, either. Even though Crutchfield is my favorite place to shop, if I had bought this stuff from them, it would have cost me around $1,500!! By buying from eBay, I got it all for just under $1,000. For those of you who haven't tried eBay, I highly recommend it!

Yeah, I just turned 18 on 2/28. Thanks for the happy b-day. Oh, and yeah, we can definately forget about everything that was said. Especially since, if you noticed, I took your advice. You were the one who told me to go with the BP1200.1 instead of the BP600.1, right? I figured, for that price, I had to. I paid less for the BP1200.1 on eBay than I would have for the BP600.1 from Crutchfield. Oh, and umm...I was wrong when I told you that the BP600.1 put out 1200wRMS @ 1-ohm. That particular amp puts out 600wRMS @ 2-ohms and at 1-ohm. There is no power increase below two ohms. The one I ordered, on the other hand, puts out 1200wRMS @ 2-ohms and below. I have a feeling that I'm going to be very happy with this amp. Anyway, sorry for all the arguing. Have a on me.

You better be very careful..that's a fair bit more power than our cars electrical system can handle.. Don't bump too loud for long of you could fry your ECU.. Also get a 1 farad cap to help controll dimming(cause it's annoying and affects bass response).. alwyas turn your system off or lower it ALOT about 5minutes before you get home or stop anywhere to give your batt a chance to recharge.. Also you'll need a deep cycle battery within the next 6 months...
Or just buy a H/O Alternator

Yeah, it's quite a bit of power. My current car ('92 Sunbird Conv) has a 105 amp alternator...so it's more than this alt too! The BP-1200.1 has a maximum power draw of 117 amps!! I think, when I get my Civic, I may have the alternator rewound, because I can't afford a bigger alt. I heard something about somebody using, I think, a Silverado alt. If you have any info, please help me out. I could prolly afford one of those, but I couldn't afford $650 for one of those Ohio Generators alts. As for a cap, I have a 1/2 farad right now...it should be enough 'til I can get a better one. Sometime in the next few months, I should be getting another $600. That should be enough to get a good cap, and maybe a better alt. I'm thinking about spending it on a set of Infinity components, tho...so I don't know about the alt. That reminds me, will Honda cover damage to the alternator or ECU? I mean, if I had to guess, I'd say they would simply blame it on the stereo and that would be the end...but I dunno.
