amp or sub problems
amp or sub problems
ok so tonight i was at my friends house and for some reason decided to open my trunk and my subbox had slid over so as im pushing it back the sub stops and a red light on my amp comes on, so i turn the car off give it a minute or two then turn it back on its fine for a few seconds then when i raise the volume up same thing happens, so one more time i do it and its fine like nothing had happened, finally as im going home the sub is on no red light but it seems the sub has lost power, i checked all the connections in the back, nothing, i checked if any of the settings i had had maybe reset but no, im at a loss, i had a pretty crappy amp but it was getting the job done until now do you think i should get a new one? any help would be greate thanks

you are prob shorting something.. double check all the wiring it.. try to turn the amp on without the speaker wires turn on.. ect..
all these amp things **** me off. People really need to check and double check. There isn't that much wires..
BUT if everything else is still messed up, you could have messed up your amp. I did that once while putting in a bike in the trunk (ya dont ask, a coule transistors blew out.. amp is good now )

I'd have to recommend securing your sub box, doesn't fix your problem, but keeps the sub box from becoming a projectile in the event of an accident. Bump responsibly.
Check the connections on the amp to the sub. One of mine boke inside the amp and it would stop sending a signal to the subs if they moved a bit. If you jostle the connections gently and the connection is broken the signal will be lost. This may be why you're losing sound when you turn the volume up - because the bass is shaking the loose connection. I took it to the local shop and they re-soldiered the connection for a few bucks.
