amp turning off???

i love my system but 1 problem, after playing for a little while i notice that the amp will turn off, but if i directly connect the rem and the + side with an aligator clip, it will stay on and work perfect. i know that i ran some pretty big wire from the head unit to the rem, do you think maby the wire is the cause? thanks

Or maybe the connection at the back of the HU is the cause...
