Good Custom Sub Box?

I am looking for 2 customer boxes for a 2001 Civic LX, kinda of tired of my huge box, so I was looking for some customer boxes, don't care if they are 10" or 12".

If anyone has any for sale or good sites, let me know. Thanks

I think the first thing you should do is pick out a subwoofer and get a box based on what the company recommends. Or I suppose you can do it the other way around.

Generally speaking, most 12" subs recommend a sealed enclosure of 1 cu ft. So for simplicity sake, I would just buy a prefabbed box similar in size. Go to ebay and search for a seller by the name of "doremifrog". Great prefabbed enclosures.

I appreciate the info guys, yeah I have been thinking to just build it myself, I just wanted to see what was already out there, that way I may have just decided to go with them (granted its not hard, but the supply expense is about half of buying one premade, if the quality is good it might be worth it).

I am going to dynamat the whole car in the next month or so, so it may get me in the "project" mode I am in every now and then.

I'd much prefer to pay to have sound deadener installed. And why dynamat brand? You know there are equally effective cheaper alternatives right?

dynamat isn't that hard to install, just make sure you clean the surfaces before you lay it down and use a heat gun to get i to mold into all of the corners..

Here is my "somewhat" of a custom box.... but you will get some ideas of it being out of the way.

And Dyamat I highly recommend.

This I know however I get accomodations for dynamat that GREATLY reduces the price, lower then I can get on ebay, so that is why.

I just would rather not spend another night, being 6'2" and all, crawling around in the trunk of a civic. I put it in when I had the civic and it took some gymnastics to get all 200 sq feet in that trunk and do it easily(3 layers). Yes, I used a heat gun, roller, etc. I'd still rather not do it again. Every inch was covered too. And I foamed the big gaps.

As for alternatives, I'm partial to fatmat (www fatmat.com) as it's probably the cheapest and effective out there. Sure, the sound deadener showdown had it ranked low, but I had great results with it. I did all the prep work to a tee, dried with a heat gun, and put a blower heater on the trunk to warm it (installed it in 32 degree weather in the garage).

Coupla points on sound deadener. Dynamat Xtreme is good stuff. If you have a hookup to get it at a good price, it is a good choice. Second Skin and Cascade are better quality, but all are good enough that unless you have extreme requirements any of them will do you well.

I don't want to get into another argument about asphalt versus butyl mats so I'll just urge caution. Any sound Deadener makes a huge difference. In our cars, it is the best upgrade you can possibly make for sound quality and comfort. IMO any audio upgrades are pointless unless you do this first.

Butyl mats will be easier to install, more effective and more reliable over time. I'd be especially careful with FatMat. First of all, it is just repackaged MFM Peel & Seal, so as cheap as it is, you can get the exact same thing for less at Home Depot. Second, they have some poor *** customer service. They just opened a new eBay seller's account because of all the negative feedback they had earned: fatmat-sound-killer

The point is, it is hard work, but extremely worthwhile. It is the kind of project you don't want to do more than once. It will increase the value of your car and make it much more pleasant to own. Making a quality choice will guarantee a do it and forget it outcome.
