Amp is acting WEIRD! Static and buzzing...

Just got an Infinity 4 channel amp. Hooked it up to my Polk DB6500 components (front and rear), powered it on and almost cried. The thing sounds awful. Sometimes channels work, sometimes they don't. Either way there's a horrific buzzing sound coming out of my tweeters that wasn't there before. Not to mention the alternator noise I'm getting too. Oh and every once in a while it makes this static-like popping sound. I checked all of my connections and they look good. I ran the interconnects down the center console and the power down the pass. side. Is the amp shot already? This is my first time doing this, so any help would be appreciated.

I just looked at some articles...maybe a ground loop isolator will help? I also have the speaker wires (not the interconnects) somewhat close to the power lines in the trunk. Oh and the buzzing happens even when the interconnect cables aren't hooked up to the amp.

It's grounded to the body in the trunk behind the carpet liner. I used the bolt that holds the taillight in for a point, and sanded all the paint off around it. I cheack all of the grounds this morning, and it seems good. Funny thing is that my sub amp is grounded to the same point on the other side of the car and works fine, even when I hook up my speaker to it. The sound coming out of the amp is like a scratchy cracking sound...I'm thinking that the amp's shot or something. I'm gonna try attaching it to a different power source and see if there's any improvement. If not, sounds like it needs to be replaced.
