Audio noob needs some help/suggestions

Dear Audio Gurus,
I have recently been looking into getting a system for my car(05 vic coupe) . I want to get 2 10s, since I listen to mainly metal/heavier stuff. I want Infinity Kappa Perfects. But onto the questions:

a.)First off, I have an 05 SE, and I want to keep my head unit, would it be worth it to get a line out converter, or how much SQ do I lose? Because if it would be that bad, then I wont even go through with it.

b.)I cannot decide on which amp to get. I want something to power the subs, obviously, but do I want 2-channel, or mono? I don't want to spend more than 300 on the amp.

c.)Would I need/would you recommend a cap?

d.)Does anyone know of any wiring guides that are more descriptive than the ones on this site?

Thanks in advance.

Kappa Perfects are amazing, you are going to love them.

a) get the converter and try it out. If is sounds nasty, which it shouldn't, then get a new HU.

b) An amp like This Kenwood would give both subs 250 watts, assuming you get the dual voice coil subs, and for a good price.

I personally would save up, get the single voice coil subs, and get this Alpine amp (300 watts to each sub).

The alpine will sound better and the subs will hit harder, but when I had a Kenwood amp hooked up to my Infinity Perfect sub it sounded really good.

c) http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/le...rs_wiring.html

you're welcome.

One more thing to add: Infinity is insane with their power recommendations. You could easily give an Infinity sub, that is rated for 350 w RMS, like 400 or even 500 w RMS and it won't fail. But usually people have a little clipping (when the speaker is forced to stay stationary for fractions of a second when it is trying to move back and forth). This clipping, if its small, is safe with that sub at 350w RMS but will blow the sub if you clip at 500w RMS.
So for those subs I recommend 300-400 watts RMS from an amp each. That way they will be safe.

I wouldn't get a cap. I'd get a new battery instead, after installing it(the new audio gear) and seeing if there's noticable dimming. You may not need either.

To keep the stock HU ,yeah, you'll need an LOC. If you're going this route though, get a quality one, not one of the $30 dollar ones at the audio store. Get something like the Audio Control LS6, or something like the JL Audio Clean Sweep, Phoenix Gold makes one as well, but I can't recall the model number (Megahurtz?). That's really the only way to improve SQ, or keep it the same, without replacing the stock HU.

There are some wiring guides in the sticky up top. Did u check there?

Mono or multi channel will work just fine. Some argue that mono gives you cleaner power, but do they really? I don't think so. There are different classes of amps, and they give you different types of power, but I don't think there's a valid arguement for mono giving cleaner power over a 2 channel. It's defined a different way. I say get what fits your budget. For a good budget amp that provides good power for the price, you may want to check into JBL's line.
