Alpine IVA-W200 & Glare
Alpine IVA-W200 & Glare
I have an 05 civic and I have been looking at the new alpine double din iva-w200 and was going to add the blackbird for GPS. My only concern is glare. I have an Alpine 9855 and sometimes it is a little hard to see. I was wondering if anyone has installed this or any other double din with navigation, and could tell me how the glare is. Is it easy to see? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow was planning on getting that same screen but was too worried about security ( someone just taking it) so I decided to go with the IVA D310 it has angle ajustability and the front face comes off........ but it cost more!!!! (of course)

i had ordered that same headunit but was taking too long to get so i canceled it and got the eclipse double din with navigation instead (avn-5435), and it is visible in sunlight, no problem at all
at first I was a little concerned about someone taking it, but I figure that's what insurance is for.......as for the glare...do you think the eclipse is similar in display to the alpine double din?

DO NOT BUY THE BLACKBIRD
(i know this has nothing to do with the glare BUT it is helpful to you guys [i hope])
I am an alpine salesman, and it is one of the worst products they have ever retailed.
i used it the other day, set it up, (in my car standing still) and programmed in a destination (after half an hour of trying to figure out how) and left to go there
1. 10 minutes in ; GPS is still sitting where I was when I started
2. 20 minutes in ; would have been thoroughly lost by now if I was relying on gps as sole means of locating something, gps is not even near me, its at a place in the middle of the corn feilds 20 miles the other direction from where I started
3. 30 minutes in ; stopping at my location, still at least a 10 minute delay in updates (the GPS was slowly trying to figure out where I was)
4. 40 minutes in ; coming back (reprogrammed in my work addy) GPS link bar is full, wireless built in fm mod whines like no other (expected)
5. 50 minutes in ; on highway, GPS is now updating every 5-7 minutes, im traveling 75mph, so thats like 6-7 miles BEHIND me.
6. 60 minutes in ; back at shop, blackbird is slowly figuring out stuff, I hate this thing! go in tell manager that we need to ask for a refund from alpine for both of the blackbirds we ordered for stock. He did.
other ideas ; THIS THING IS SLOW! the gui (graphical user interface) is SOO slow that I think I could hand plot the route before the "advanced" interface trys to figure out what letter im going to type in next. (which its usually wrong, and WONT let you input anything else if its not the one it decides is correct)
I would definitely stay the FVCK away from this thing If I were you guys!
