Amp Wiring Questions - What Gauge Wire?

Here's what I'm eventually going to do, but I want to go ahead and get all the wiring out of the way. And yes, I'm using all Sony Xplod stuff, and I don't want to hear how bad they suck.

I've got a Class D Xplod XM-6001GXD ES 1000 Watt Amp coming... 300W x 1 at 4ohm, 600W x1 at 2ohm. This is going to be powering my subs, 2 12" XS-L1235 subs, rated input 200W at 4ohms, 800W max. Ok, the amp has two speaker outputs, and when you use both of them it sees the load as 2ohms because they're bridged inside the amp. What is the best way to hook up my subs to this amp?

Next, in a few months I'll be getting a Class A/B Xplod XM-1004GX 800W 4 channel amp to power all 4 of my cabin speakers, 6 1/2's and 6x9's.... 75W x 4 at 4ohm, 100W x 4 at 2ohm.

Ok, now here comes the real question. What guage wire will I need to power these things? I figure 4 gauge into a distribution block with 8 gauge to the amps wouldn't be enough. So, would 2 gauge then 4 gauge? Also, will my electrical system be able to handle this? Both of the amps have a drain of 40 amps at 4 ohms. That's all our stock alt puts out right? So would I need to upgrade that too. If so, I may have to change my plans a bit.

Any help is appreciate. Also, if you have any suggestions, please use Xplod line stuff, that's the theme I'm going for.

4 guage to 2 8 guage..is fine.. the sony amps Do not put out their rated power.. they put mystical Sony watts which are only abut 75-80% of what they list... you'r stock electrical system will be able to take this.. Just make sure you upgrade your Alternator to Battery wire with 4 guage and your battery ground wire to 4 guage.

Cheers
