double DIN problem

I've been having a problem having a stereo and dvd player installed on my 01 civic ex. For whatever reason fitment is really bad and either the systems are bulging out or my center console doesnt clip back on. For you all that are running double DIN did you have to do anything to the back support bar or anything else for it to fit right? I'm looking at upgrading to a 7.5in screen but I wanna make sure that it's going to sit right before I make that investment...

Mine slid right in (kenwood).

I had to trim the bottom portion of the Metra cover plate where it comes in very close to the screen. It did fit the way it came, but when the screen motored out from the dash it would ram into the plastic Metra cover plate. A little careful dremel trimming on the face piece solved that problem.

Did you trim down the wire harnesses (less wires means more space)?

Did you direct bolt the HU to the dash pice or are you using some kind of cage mount?

Well... I didn't trim anything down. Actually tried to just fit it into place.
