Wiring question
Wiring question
Hi, everybody
I finally got to installing my sub and I have two questions ( i know, i know i read all the stickies
)

1. How do I figure the power wire (i got stock stereo still )
2. Does it mean i can just connect to any metal part without running the wire to the engine bay?
sorry for nubie questions, gotta get it right

1. remote turn-on wire from the deck to the amp so the amp turns on when the deck does (it even says remote on/off next to it
).
2. attach to any bare metal surface on the chassis.

btw what gauge wire i should use for powerwire and speakerwire?
does it matter if gauge rating is a little higher than needed?
It all depends on what your total RMS is and how far you are running it. Here is a link with some recommended power sizes

for speaker wire usually you are ok with 14/16 for speakers and 12 for subs.

Well seeing as how you're running a factory deck you won't have a remote turn on wire. The best thing to do in this situation is to hook it up to accessory... assuming you have a 7th gen civic the accessory wire will be yellow with a red stripe.
