they are both bad. The first one is a company in which ive had bad experiences, low quality products and the bottom one is useless. Ive seen it in a car before its like having a cell phone screen playing a movie in your car...watching it is barely possible. I would just save your money up and get a good 7" flip or just spend a decent amount of money on a high quality alpine
Vic's almost done... thats sorta depressing...

Out of the the two, I would go w/ JVC, since they are a better brand, I love my JVC deck, just wish it would let me fast forward my mp3's...

get the JVC and a nice set of binauculars and your all set
. but seriously, if you have no choice, get the jensen because of screen size, but you might regret it cause of the quality not being there. i'f save up to get some better brands, pioneer, alpine, etc.....

Get both. Install the Jensen first, and when that craps out on you. Install the JVC. LOL.
Seriously though. I'd get the JVC because the quality is not bad. JVC doesn't have great SQ though. I've had JVC decks in the past and the quality was good, but the SQ sucked. I would not even both with that deck with that small 3" screen.
So in reality, I'd choose none of those.

dont get a pioneer they are pieces...alpine or high quality kenwood exelons are your best bet. A screen is only good if you pay upwards of $1000 for it. Anything below it is going to crap out on you in mere months

i owned sony, pioneer and alpine for HU's, my first one was the sony (total mistake, garbage), then went with pioneer, had alot of them, all kinds, then before i got my pioneer 5700, i was always hearing how good alpine was so i decided to try the 9855, well that one didn't go too good either (probably was a defect, but it was my first and last), it didn't want to play burnt mp3's (even new ones), after a certain volume, the speakers started sounding like sh*t, and the settings and display wasn't as good as pioneer, so sold that one on ebay and got my pioneer 5700, and i'm sticking with pioneer. some say that alpine has the best sound, i don't see a difference. i love everything about pioneer hu's, the look, the features, the sound, and they last. Don't get me wrong, i know alpine must be good, because i have their amp and sub and love them, i just had a bad experience with an HU, so i'm not buying again.

I have to agree with Jensen being bad. Don't get that.
As for the JVC: I had a few other JVD head units before, and they were all extremly solid. The last one I had played MP3s and it worked perfectly for up to 4 or 5 straight hours of use in the summer before overheating and functioning oddly. It never broke, just got hot and started to skip.
If you really were 100% sure to get either one, I would have to tell you get the JVC and put a larger screen elsewhere in the car.

the screen on it is just to get more people to buy it, even if its useless.
And honestly the sound coming from my $150 JVC mp3 playing HU was not too short of that from my $1000 Clarion dvd playing HU it was replaced with. JVC isn't audiophile quality, and I am not claiming that, but with good speakers the JVC should sound plenty good enough for 99% of people.

From my experience, cheap in-dash DVDs usually...
I'd honestly avoid both options and save up for a decent model from a reputable company.
- are rebranded crap sold under many other names. Jensen/Performance Teknique used to sell the exact same in-dash DVD that was just rebadged.
- have horrible resolution. Go compare and you will see.
- offer little control for sound (i.e. only treble/bass). Might not matter since stock hu's are like that but you expect more from aftermarket products.
- have gay looking "screensavers." For example, when you are listening to the radio the radio screen looks like an old school GameBoy...monochromatic black/gray.
I'd honestly avoid both options and save up for a decent model from a reputable company.

I've owned 3 pioneer decks in my car. I've had no problems with any of them. I owned a Premier 550mp, AVH-P5700DVD, and now I have the DEH-P8600MP. I got rid of the 550mp to upgrade to the 5700, and then I decided the 5700 was too flashy for me, plus I can't watch and drive at the same time. So I ended up buying the 8600MP.
My 5700 was around $800 USD when I bought it. I bought it when it first came out. My 8600mp was $350 USD, and there's even the 9600mp which is a higher quality deck.
$200 deck pfftt.... not that theirs anything wrong with a $200 deck, but calling it a high quality deck for $200... LMAO.

My old DVD deck was the same way. I had the Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD, and the SQ was so so, but it lacked a little. The deck cost $800 USD.
My current deck. Pioneer 8600mp which was $350 USD sounds a lot better than my DVD deck. Its more dedicated to SQ because its sole purpose is to sound good. A dvd deck main purpose is to look good, screen quality wise. I'm not saying all DVD decks are bad for SQ, but I'm pretty sure that these companies rather make a nicer screen than focus on SQ for DVD decks.

I used to stay away from JVC, too. Then i saw this deck and decided to give it a try.
know what? i love it now. First of all, let me clear this up. the screen is definitely clear! it has a really good color and a crisp look. Just cuz its small doesn't mean its not a good picture. Also, i am very pleased with the sound quality. Sure, its not the very, very best...but its certainly not something you'd hear and be unhappy with. I haven't had anybody hear my system and complain, i usually get compliment as a matter of fact. The EQ, while only 7 band, is very good and allows you to tune it easily on each song if you want. I usually change it everytime i put a new CD in. Also, you can play MP3 dvds on this deck which allows you to have like 1000 songs on a dvd at your disposal without changing cds. ive never used this feature, though.
take a look at my setup:

yes, the 3" screen is tiny...but think about it like this. you're looking into this deck cuz you want a DVD player, right? if you don't want a fold out type screen...you're looking into an indash, right? well, you can either get a cd/dvd player that looks like a regular deck, probably with very little or no display -or- you can get this deck that has a niffty little screen. either way, your main focus is going to be the indash screen. so this is just like an "extra." 2 screens are better than one!
i have some pictures of it running at night, but im at work right now. i'll get those up tonight if I have a chance or i'll at least email them to myself so i can get them up tomorrow.

yeah, you can play DVDs while driving, you just have to wire it correctly. (its not legal..but ya...) and the face IS detachable.
i dunno how much it costs now..but i paid ~620.00 (plus s/h, tax) or something like that. i think it was going for 659 or something like that but i found a good deal on the net. i actually went to find it at local shop and they wanted like 800 for it! i think i posted a thread about it.
