well, i have the above sub, and I can tell you. It doesn't work, I've only had it for 2 weeks, and i've had it exchanged once already. and right now it doesn't work. haha. it does pound thou, definatly is better than a Type-R. how about Phoenix Gold XMAX? should be better than Type-R. for the amps, get a phoenix gold too!

Alpine Type R sub, MTX amp..the Alpine amps are not impressive in any ways Also the MTX is a class D amp and will be less strain on your electrical system.

Silver. there's no such thing as an amp not being enough for a sub.. Unless it's an all out SPL subs with very stiff suspension. Even an MTX6500D would be MORE than enough. They put out close to 900Wrms... If you're planning to compete then yeah get an MTX81000D.. Otherwise it'll be more than your ears ccan ever handle. I'm running 450Wrms to a pair of Planet Audio p12DVC Subs(winter setup) and I'm still hitting over 135 DB's..which in plain english is 15 Decibels more than your ears can take without damage.

More power doesn't mean better if it's just for yourself.

Cheers

The 8100d is overkill and will blow those subs, the 6500d is the match for 2 8000's.

if your running 8000s be sure to not over drive them, i think the Rating of 400RMS on them is a little optimistic myself. as I went through 2 of them in 5 days. I was feeding it 500watts, but it should have been nice clean power. Phoenix gold amp running 4 ohm. and i wasn't even pounding em that hard.
