loud sound coming from sub
loud sound coming from sub
whenever i start my car there is a really loud sound that comes from the sub. last time i changed the ground and it went away but it came back now. the set up is a 12" JL sub that is wired to the stock deck. someone told me that it might be wired to the wrong wire behind the deck. what color is the power wire on the stock deck? thanks.

normally on a bare metal surface^
it'll sound distorted if it was a grounding issue i think....i'm not an expert(at all)
i'm sure someone else can diagnose ur sitiuation better.

U have the sub hooked up to the deck???!!! R u crazy? Dont u have an amp and a wiring kit?
Is it alt whine? Does it get louder the higher that the engine revs?
In an aftermarket deck the remote turn on wire that goes to the amp is typically blue in the wiring harness

no i do have a wiring kit...maybe i should have been more detailed. what color is the remote wire on the stock deck? because i have it hooked up to the stock deck. i'm sure the wires are all correct because i have done this before but this is the first time something like this has happened. i have the rca's running on the opposite side as the power wire. i think it's either the ground or i'm using the wrong wire behind the deck.
Its the blue wire like I said in the first post.... how do u have RCA's on a stock deck? Do you have a LOC? (line out converter) If u do then why r u running it up the side of the car? It can just connect to the rear speaker leads.
Add more detail to your posts!!!!!!!!! How are we supposed to assess the situation if u write 2 sentences and leave out key info?
Where is ur amp currently gounded? Common man, we need this info!
PS.
I think that loud bass sound is what the sub is supposed to do...
j/k

i think the problem is that he's using a stock deck....
i think whoever wired up his amp could not find the "remote turn on wire" from the stock deck so they wired 12V directly to teh remote terminal on the amp. this causes the amp to be on all the time and never turns off. when the deck is turned on, he hears a loud "POP" sound.
to get rid of the pop sound, wire the amp's remote terminal to the deck's remote turn on wire(i think the stock deck has one, you just have to figure out which wire it is).

there is a piece i bought that you tap it into the speakers and you plug the rca's into that so i ran the rca's all the way up. i have the amp grounded on that metal piece behind the rear seat and i sanded off all the paint. what i'm trying to find out now is what color is the remote wire on the stock deck? i think the problem is that i used a wire that powers on when the car is on but it's the wrong wire.
