Opinions please on DVD player

Opinions please on DVD player
Before anything else, this is not going into the 'vic but to a minivan.
Please help me decide on wether I should go with an In Dash DVD/CD w/ AM/FM (JVC DV5100) or buy a regular AM/FM CD then connect a universal DVD player.
It's a 99 Caravan that came with a dealer installed VCR, CD changer and an overhead monitor. The factory radio went kapput as well as the changer and VCR. My problem know is deciding on what to get since I already have the monitor. I could get the JVC for $225 plus dash kit and wire harness. The AM/FM CD + DVD player + dash kit and harness should come out to almost the same probably $10-$20 difference.
If anyone has the JVC unit, please let me know how it is.
