Hmm...JVC El Kameleon?
I just tried a friend's El Kameleon out today. It's the better model with the three low-level outs, low-pass filter, aux input, etc. Anyway, I really like it, and I am just wondering what you guys think. Should I get the El Kameleon or Panasonic's MXE CQ-DFX701U. If you want to check out either of 'em, just go here: Crutchfield

<< i liked the old kameleon, with out the ***, the new one looks stupid when u shut it off
Hmm...I dunno...it didn't really bother me too much. I mostly like it because of the El Kameleon anti-theft faceplate. I am mostly wondering if it's good quality. I currently have an older Panasonic, and I love it. That's why I'm having a hard time picking between the El Kameleon and the Panasonic.
My current Panasonic has:
3 Low-level outs (One non-fading w/sub control)
10-sec Anti-shock
Super High Definition Bass
Remote control
Direct-track access (just like the El Kameleon)
Detachable face

<< the kenwoods motorized D MASK is better in my opinion. >>
Yeah, but the cheapest Kenwood with D MASK+ that has all the options I want is $370, where the El Kameleon is only $280. That's a difference of $90...which can make quite a difference when you don't have a job.
Edit: Also, I'm trying to decide between the El Kameleon and the previously mentioned Panasonic.

<< which one is that? the excelon one? cause i got mine for 280 when it retails for 400. its the one that has the megamotion display >>
Where did you get it? According to Crutchfield, the one with the MegaMotion display is the eXcelon KDC-X817 which was $470 and is now $430. Another reason I don't really want Kenwood, besides the price, is because imo the faceplate is too cluttered. I counted 20 buttons on the KDC-X817, versus 15 (plus the ****) on the El Kameleon and 14 on the Panasonic. Plus, if you look at either the El Kameleon or the Panasonic, the buttons are neatly organized on the faceplates. On the El Kameleon, the buttons are mostly at the bottom, and on the Panasonic, they are all at either side of the display. I don't know, I just don't care much for Kenwood. I have a Kenwood reciever for my home system, but I don't really like 'em in cars. The only Kenwood I would consider buying (if it wasn't so expensive), is the eXcelon DVT-911DVD. I love touchscreens and DVDs are great. It just isn't worth $2,400 to me.

Hmm...maybe some guys just get a little too excited when they see 'em...I mean, umm...uhh...never mind...

I dunno...I have a few friends that have 'em, and no probs so far...but I don't know. I do believe you, but I don't know if it's bad quality or bad people. You know what I mean? I have seen stuff at Circuit City that has been destroyed. I mean, speakers with holes in 'em, CD players with stuck/broken faces...it's awful. Poor equipment. i got it from circuit city, like 2 months ago(they even offer free installation or free speakers)... different things go on sale every week. oh n its not the excelon one but the regular one. but ey its still the megamotion. everything worked fine at the circuit city i went to, even have a button so you could try out the different headunit and speakers... crutchfield is usually expensive. but if you still plan on getting the jvc, dont buy it for 280. i think last time, best buys had it for 190, i'm sure they'll have it for that price again. if not try a local stereo shop. but they try to milk as much money out of you so you have to bargain with them. last time they were selling a bandpass box for 100 n i got it down to 50 easily. probably could have gotten it for 40 if i tried. n when kicker solo baric L7's first came out, they had it for 250(probably could get it for 200 again if you bargain). most shops even today have it for 350.

Which El Kameleon was it? It may not have been the one with 3 low-level outs. There is also a model that only has one low-level out. It's quite a bit cheaper than the model I want to get. Also, as far as Circuit City's free installation, I don't trust anybody else to install my equipment. If I do it myself, I know that everything was done right.
