Need help on choosing an amp/setup

Ok I need help on how many amps I'm going to need or if I should just get one. I have a JVC El Kameleon deck right now in my car and replaced the factory speakers with Kicker K60's in the front and back. The HU pumps out 45 x 4 and the Kicker K60's are 65 watts RMS and 130 max. I was thinking of getting 2 10's for my trunk but I'm unsure about how powerful of an amp I'm going to need or If I'll need multiple amps. I was thinking a four channel amp in three-way mode to run my rear speakers and the 10's and have the front speakers running off the HU. Or should I just run the rear and front speakers off the HU and get an amp to power the 10's. I don't need a system loud enough to hear down the block, I just want enough bass to get a few compliments. Any suggestions on what I should do and how powerful of an amp I'll need for the tri-way configuration/ or if I'm just gonna power my subs. Another question, should my amp be able to cover more watts than my subs can? Like if I have an 800 watt amp powering 2 250 watt max subs? Or should the amp be less?

first off, if you run the 4 channel in 3 way mode, run the fronts and the subs. front speakers are much more important than rears. also. you'd be best off running a 4 channel amp for all your speakers. and a 2 channel or 1 channel for the subs. the 45x4 that the HU puts out isn't rms, it's peak, it puts out about 20 RMS.

Well Depends on your Budget and what you want.. I'd run a 2 Channel to the front speakers 50-75Wrmsx2

and a 400+ watt amp for a pair of 12's .

But that's just me.

If I got 2 amps though and my headunit only has one amp output (I'm not sure how many amps I can hook-up to it), what do I need to do? And how powerful of an amp would I need to power my front and rear speakers? And for the 2 12's I should get a 4-600 watt amp I'm assuming?

If you're HU has 1 RCA output, buy a pair of Y-adapters.. SHould cost you a whole $12. Also 50-75WRMS for the front speakers. And depending on the subs you want anywhere form 200-600Wrms would be good. What kinda subs you looking for?

i'd recommend one 4 channel for front and rear speaks, and a 2 channel for the 2 10"s. That's what i got and it works good. You might end up changing out those front and rear speaks in the future for better ones, and eventually you'll need a amp for the wattage.

Run the 4 Midrange speaker off of the 4 channel amp, and get another 2 or 1 channel amp for the Sub(s) is the best way to go. Running 2 Midranges and Sub off of the an amp is okay, but the other two midranges running from the headunit will not sound as good as the one running from the amp. Meaning your sound quality will be unbalanced. Or the two running from the headunit might distort when trying to play your system loud.

Moohawkboom is right just get y-adapters to hook up two amps. It should be cheaper than $12 though unless your buying top of the line wires.

well technically for best sound skip out rear speakers entirely . SO you'd only need a 2-channel.

Hey Tracie, you sound like you know what you're talking about. Car Audio chicks are Kool You an installer?
