No sound to speakers
I've had my audio set-up for about 4 years and the speakers stopped producing sound suddenly. I have a sony (cdx-ca650x) head-unit. The Head unit plays cd's and the radio fine and the subs still play bass but there is no sound to the other 4 speakers. I've tried resetting everything, checking the wires and everything else I can think of. I thought it was grounding somewhere but I cannot find it. The best I can get is a very soft distorted sound when one speaker is hooked up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

maybe the deck amplifier just died. its a sony so there you go. otherwise check the wire connections to the speaker but if they all stopped working, its the deck obviously.

that happened to my last headunit, for the longest time i thought it was my stock speakers that went out. but it turnedout to be my headunit. so i had to buy a new one. mine was a pioneer though, prolly was your headunit amp. or w/e...

man I HAD this same exact problem!! I was searching for threads the past couple hours and decided to just try and figure it out myself.
In my set up I installed a new headunit, components, rear speakers, sub & amp(everything has been working fine for quite some time).
My headunit was powering up fine but there was no sound from the front or rear speakers(all connected to my headunit). The amp was powering the sub and that was working fine so I disconnected the amp from the headunit to isolate the headunit problem.
I checked the fuse first(on the back of the HU) and that was fine. Checked any and all fuses of the car and that was OK (just to rule out the car in a sense).
I turned the headunit on and off at least 50 times in the past day and on occasion the speakers would work. I had no idea what in the world it could be. I was being optimistic and ruled out that the headunit amp was on the verge of dying because I had it for only less than a year and this was my 2nd Pioneer Premier headunit.
I had no problems whatsoever with my last one and I very rarely hear problems with these going out. So I start playing with the wires on the back of the headunit, still no sounds. All the wires I have installed have been covered and crimped perfectly so I didn't think it was some exposed wire that was screwing with me.
Then I finally resulted in checking the wires of my speakers in the door and I find out that a wire to the passenger tweeter was being tugged on! I found that the wire was bent in a different shape than when I initially installed it.
After freeing that wire up on the friggin TWEETER! (i couldn't believe how dumb the problem turned out to be), I take a second with a sigh of relief and I can finally go to bed now haha. Hope this may help someone in the future. Thank goodness it wasn't a dying headunit amp...good ol' Pioneer!!

i remember when i got my pioneer deck put in and the 4 pioneer speakers about a week later all the sound just toally stopped. turned out one of the speakers was touching something in the door panel that was metal so it atumatically doesnt let ny sound out to prevent blowing your speakers, deck, etc. i just had the door panel popped off and the speakre was move a half inch and everyhting has been fine ever since. but yea the amp in ur deck probably died. my friend had a sony deck and his stopped workin like urs too. sound was all distorted and stuff.
