So tonight I am at work and I get a page saying my car alarm is going off and my trunk is open. I go out to check it and my driver side window is laying on the ground, all smashed with a fat hole in the middle of it. Thats right, they ripped the whole window out of the door! A$$H@le$!!!!! They popped the trunk, and jacked my 2 12" Alpine Type R's dvc, and my amp Alpine mrd-m300. My amp was kind of hidden on a board with my Cap. For some reason they decided to leave that too??? I wont complain, but I would of took it. They didnt touch anything inside the car. My deck was unharmed, faceplate was off butstill in car. And they didnt take my radar detector, which was right there on my windshield? So they obviously knew what they wanted. But damn it sucks. Police came, tried to fingerprint, but no luck.

Anyways. That was my rant, here is my question.

It is time to replace my system. I want my new system to be smaller and lighter, but still be on the same level as my old set up. My old system was sooo heavy. Was comparable to driving with someone in the passenger seat. With the subs out of car it was deff faster. More fun to drive all together.

I would love to be able to have like one 10" woofer, maybe one 12", that can compete with my two 12"s. and whatever amp works best. Would like to have some more room in the trunk as well.

I loved my Type Rs, would buy them again. But think I want JL.

So what would you guys/girls do if you were in my situation?

Maybe you should edit your Car Domain so that it doesn't show where you are located.
I stopped taking pics and showing my car off online only because its a small world.

I hope insurance covers it. Have full coverage through usaa. They are suppose to call me back sometime tomorrow. Anyone know or have any knowledge of what I can look forward in hearing from my insurance? Have a bad feeling they are gonna try to screw me on it. I hope not. I'm looking at spending around 600-1000 on my woofer, enclosure, and amp all together. Dont have a lot of money to spend on this right now. So hopefully I can get something good with not much more than insurance will give me.

I am currently saving to replace my suspension, want to get some Teins. So this came at a bad time. Have to decide what comes first.

Sorry to hear that you system got jacked. I know I'd be upset if my system got jacked. I remember when my stock rims got stolen. I so upset, I didn't even go to work that day. Well I did go to work, but they sent me home.

The only thing I can say is "$hit happens". Its the risk you take for having a system, or any other modifications for that matter. Its also a risk that we take from driving Honda's. The most stolen car in North America.

Take "Likeaferio" advice. He has some valid points there.

As for what I would get next.

I'd stick with a JL W7. I've heard the 8w7 and even that thing pounds. This 8 inch sub is freakin' amazing for its size. Obvisiously the 13w7 is better, but do you need that much bass?? If you do, go for it. If not, consider the 10w7 or the 8w7.

I don't think insurance will cover it, unless you told them that you have a system in your car before it got stolen. I'm not 100% sure on that, I'm pretty sure that's what they'll tell you.

insurance will only cover it if you have the reciept of the systems you had and probably want some proof of a professional installation.

Insurance doesn't have to cover it because it's not a stock option. Most insurance companies require you to purchase additional coverage for things you add on to the vehicle. Unless the vehicle is a total loss, and the items are bolted down to the vehicle, then they may cover them, but they don't have to, technically, because you didn't add extra coverage for the customization. At least they didn't vandalize the vehicle other than the broken window. And cops can never fingerprint a car almost. Too many hands can touch it. Same thing happened when the exact same scenerio happened with me 2 years ago. That's when I stopped posting pictures on the net, and advertising my location.

True but USAA is not typical insurance company either . Its mainly for veterans /active duty military. The coverage is the greatest IMHO and they have replaced items no questions asked in a few of my cases.

i dont know what insurance ya be going to, but as for farmers they cover everything you claim if you have proof that it was on your car.

If you got da cheez, i'd go with an alpine type x 10". Wow, this thing is amazing. You should see the size of the magnet. It is an extremely deep sub,in size, but it also performs.

Yeah, I have a feeling it was someone I know. I would love to find the persons involved. So far insurance hasnt helped me at all besides make the appointment for the glass people to come out this morning. Was 230 to replace it, and my deductible is 300. So lucky me. Plus the tint was quoted 45 for that window at same place i got it done at.

Was at Car Toys trying to figure what I want to replace it with. Have come up with one JL 10" W6, in a ported box. They picked out a JL 500watt amp said it would be a good pair. But they say they have to re wire Everything, my Cap, wires from HU, amp, and sub. All with new stuff, wont deal with anything in a theft. So i'm looking at 1000-1200 for that set up installed.

But now I am thinking maybe I can wire it myself? then it wouldnt be covered at all since wasnt professionally installed. So not sure what to do. All the install costs was huge, think it was 200-300, dont have the quote right beside me.

How do you think this new set up would compare to 2 12" type Rs? 300watt RMS.
