How to check an amp??
Whats up..
I have a Kenwood amp that I thought went out because the speakers it was running stopped working. i ended up getting an infinity amp to replace it...and when i hooked it up, the speaker problem still persisted. anyways...we took care of the problem and i kept the new amp...but im not sure if the Kenwood was part of the problem to begin with..
how can i check to see if its in working condition without putting it in my car???

go to walmart or any auto store and ask for a voltometer. go get one and test the amp. instructions included when you buy it. it will let you test speakers, subs, and amps.

uhmm..im really not exactly sure what the fock was wrong with my speakers. ok it was like this...
I got a new deck...2 days later my front speakers (components) started cutting in and out. they were powered by the kenwood amp.
took it to a audio guy - said my amp was bad.
bought new infinity amp - components started working with new amp - then after about 15 minutes started cutting in and out again.
took it back to the audio guy...he wasn't sure wtf was wrong...he switched (either switched, or just unplugg/plugged, i cant remember) my L/R inputs just by chance and everything was fine.
so i just left the new infinity amp hooked up and now i have the kenwood just sitting in my closet. i was thinking i could sell it, but i wanna make sure its in working order...cuz im pretty sure it was never a problem with the amp to begin with.
so if its working...the voltometer should just show that its being powered. or, could something be wrong even if its getting power?

you need to hook it up to a 12 volt power supply, if it turns on, connect an audio source to it and a speaker to the output side, if you get music, your all good. Best buy will bench test your equipment for you. If their not busy probably wont charge you that much for it
