hey guys.. i have all alpine speakers subs and amp.. i want a in dash dvd mobile station. i was looking at the alpine iva-d310 or 901.. i herd keenwood is good.. any one have suggestions..need asap. thanks

clarion is nicer for the people who dont want anything too flashy. thats what i have. I know most people think they are all flashy but here is my point of view:

Most people buy them because its the "cool" thing to do. these people should buy kenwoods. sound pretty good and tons of crap to keep your friends impressed. lots of form over function mentality.

Some people buy them to get superior quality, and superior looks, to make a truly high end system. These people should buy Alpine and Eclipse.

Some people want something that puts function over form. Plain is good if it works. Easy menus, no useless bells or whistles. These people should get clarion. (me)

Last group of people, who are ricers and have no money, want anything with a screen cause they saw it on tv and have no mind of their own. These people should stick to sony, jvc, and dual. Even though jvc is great value the only thing they offer right now is cheaper.

So put yourself in a catagory and you can then see what I recommend to you.

Best part about clarion is how little they have on them. The plainness, which isnt ugly just minimal, blends in nicely with a cheaper car.

Alpine makes some of the best audiophile grade multimedia decks out there. Get an IVA-D310 or IVA-D901 and you WILL NOT be disappointed.

I have the D310 and its been amazing so far... i had one of the higher end Panasonic decks before with powerful preouts and all but this alpine unit blows that one away by far... very clear, and very powerful and lots of ways to customize ur sound. very solid unit! and not to mention the screen quality is very nice for a 7" screen

aline makes awesoem decks but they are the hardest to bypass to enable movies while driving (cause it is illegal)

I had a alpine head unit that I held on to for years and still have it is and always will be one of the best regular head units I ever owned since then I moved on to a clarion vrx935vd for various reasons but I never talk down alpine and I have come to love what my clarion offers in form and function

The foldout N1 and N2 can play movies, but since it has GPS built in, it can automatically tell when the vehicle is in motion, so it will NOT let you play dvd. No bypass for it either. I believe the D2 will only read DVD-ROM, not DVD video, yet another crappy mistake by pioneer.

You will not be dissapointed if you go with an alpine. All of their components integrate so well together via their ai-net. The 310 is a powerful unit and I would expect to see the screen quality of their next gen touch screen to be that of the 900/901 if not better. The 901 has the ultimate screen quality and features. To me, touch screen doesnt matter a whole lot, less finger prints on the viewing area. Its all about the benjamins baby...

I agree. After 2 months you won't care how it looks but you will care how it works. I promise you this: If you buy one that looks great and works ok you will not like it for long.
