volts drop to 12.7 and light dims when fan kicks on while idling

volts drop to 12.7 and light dims when fan kicks on while idling
I just noticed while idling the volts drop from 14 to 12+ the lights dim while the cooling fan comes on. it happens when i have the blower on any position other than off, ...the fan cycles on and off every 15-20 seconds. Is this normal? If I turn the blower to 'off' it doesnt cycle like that the cooling fan doesnt run.... and there is no problem. any help would be appreciated
