you dont need it, just make sure the power antenna wire on the car side of the harness is hooked up to your aftermarket receiver. We dont have a power antenna, but their is a antenna booster built into the car that needs to be turned on when listening to the radio.

No, the wire is already there and there's one on the harness. Just make sure to hook it up.

The booster is already in the car, just connect the power antena wire from the car harness to the blue wire on the kenwood deck.

don't mean to jack the thread, but is there an easy way to connect this wire, or do i have to take apart the dash? i had a hu replaced by insurance, and i don't think they did this. (i have an alpine 9835)

only if they installed your HU with the sleeve, in that case, just slip out the HU and make the connections, but if it's bolted on the sides, you'll have to take it apart, but it's not a big job to get to our HU's

does that mean i pry off the plastic piece that runs around the edge of the headunit and try to slide it out?

the sleeve is the aluminum sleeve that comes with your HU. If they installed your HU with that sleeve, you can use 2 small pieces of metal (one each side of the HU) to unlock the sleeve and slide it out.

I don't know if they fit, I never installed a HU with those sleeves, I always bolt The HU on the sides, I just know some people use those sleeves I didn't know it didn't fit in certain cars. I never figured out how to attach those sleeves in the dash so I always bolted it instead.

If the harness did not come with a blue wire connection, what do I connect it to? I think I did the green/yellow wire in my 01, but I can't remember for my 03. Thanks.

i used the alpine metal sleeve, it fit fine in the dash piece. if you don't connect the wire, you will know for sure cause there will be tons of static. otherwise alpine tuners are really good quality.
