Future shop has a combo deal on, 399 (100 off...CANADIAN) for a
dvd/mp3/cd player and one of those roof fold down screens. I was in there looking for a head unit, and they suggested this as a good alternative...

Anyways...what do you guys think? the guy said they install, and it wouldnt be too much extra, because this is the 'down season' I guess

Anyways to respond to the topic. I think it look alright. I think an indash would be a better idea. Really think this through though. I rush into it, when I was buying my indash DVD player.

It was nice and all, but you can't really watch and drive at the same time. How many times are you really going to sit down in your car and watch a DVD. I mean I burned music video's and played them while driving. It was cool to have it up, but like I said "you can't watch it while your driving", unless you want to die.

Also illegal to have the indash up while driving. I don't know if its legal to have the fold down players playing while driving. $399 is not too bad of a deal though. Trust me when I say this. "This is all for the bling factor, and not function, unless you got kids or something like that". I guess it could be good for kids in the back seat. I played more music than dvd's on my player. I'm pretty sure you'll do the same.

I sold my DVD a few months after I bought it. I went out and just bought a normal mp3/wma deck. I'm happy with the deck, and will not go back to the DVD player. I mean it was nice and cool. One thing you also have to worry about is theft as well. I mean everyone wants a DVD in their car now a days. Is it worth it to get it stolen, broken windows, and who knows what else.

Anyways, just think about how much usage your really going to get out of this. For $399 you can get a really good mp3/wma deck, with better sound

This is just my opinion, letting you know from my personal experience.

The decision is up to you though.

btw, I think the sales guy at futureshop is just suggesting that screen to you because they want to clear out those items. Again, just my opinion.

that's a pretty good deal for that equipment, and the gear isn't too bad, but it isn't a replacement or alternative for a head unit, that dvd player is just a slave unit and the rest of your audio will still need to be controlled thru a head unit.

Hey, thanks for all those replys...I guess my thinking is, I could get a real nice mp3 deck for this price. But with this, I get MP3, and dvd..with a flip screen. The flip screen mounts up as soon as the sunroof ends, and comes with dome light ect. I take the car on road trips every year to NY ect. Which is about a 13 hour drive, and I think it'd be nice to get something in there! Im going to go down there today, and see what the total price is..and Ill come back and let you guys know!

Yeah...I didnt relize you had to have a seperate head unit...And I dont think the flip screen would look good in my car...I guess I'll just keep looking!
