sub/amp setup?

hey guys i have a completely stock sound system in my car and of course, its a pathetic peice of ****. i want to purchase a couple of subs and an amp. i know you guys know what youre doin, and i know that i dont. Im willing to spend like 800 or so on this, preferrably less, but ill pay what it takes, maybe a little more if i need to... ive got a good 4 grand to put into my car haha... but anyways, i want something with a lot of clear good bass, dont wanna take shortcuts, im thinking 2 10s or 2 12s, because as some people say on here, i need 2, im OCD like that... what do you guys suggest? im talkin full setup here, what deck, what subs, what amp, etc. JL? alpine? please gimme some good setup suggestions, what has been successful for you guys... i listen to a wide variety of music, rock, rap.. etc... im lookin for exact models and such, not just like "get JL"... very big thanks in advance guys. peace
-Mike

EDIT: dont necessarily need two, if one would be better. but i want something thats loud.

alpine makes some nice decks, I like phoenix gold for subs and speakers, amps I dunno, JL makes good amps but they are pricey, wiring isn't so important.........

InOvAtStyL is on a distinguished road
Whatever you decide on, I suggest Alpine all the way.

alpine will run you 800 just for a head unit. i know not all but alot of them. your on a budget.
headunit-100-150- kenwood or sony, not xplode sony either just make sure it has the connections RCA ones for the amp to plug to. makes it easier
subs. 2 12's IMO 10s are not low enough and 15s are too low in the range of frequency they can do. only my opinion. 12s are perfect. you want something with 500rms rating. max power don't mean ****. do something with 400 to 500 if you can afford it. ebay the ****, there are thousands out there. and people selling here too.
amp. this is the big one. - you have to make sure you get one that can handle the subs, but not blow them. also max power don't matter. 2k watts at 2 ohms is crap. alot of subs are 4 ohm. and 2 subs is 4 ohms times 2 on the amp. meaning, 2000/2 then divided by 2 again. 500 to each 4ohm sub max. max meaning tuned all the way. rms is what your looking for. 2k max and like around 800 rms would do 2 12s very well. i had this setup and blew both of my subs in my old car, thats cause i had the amp tuned too high.
so then get a 4 gauge wiring kit on ebay too. cause retail will rape you on those.
head unit - kenwood
subs- INFINITY 1230max and like 300 rms. perfect. just MO though.
amp- MTX-something around 600 rms with those subs.
good luck. ebay is your friend on this one for real. peace
find someone to install it OUT OF A SHOP. shops will kill you on that too.

buy an alpine deck, doesn't matter if cheap or expensive, they will blow away the other brands like sony, kenwood, pioneer, etc.
