Im thinking of getting the 9853, yes ive heard of the issues they have been having but I have been assured that they have been fixed now, well over 6 months into production.

My question is regarding the button illumination, its it changable? Ive looked all over the place and it doesnt specifically say yes?? im pretty sure the 9855 does as its the same deck minus the BIOlite, the 9847 which is a much lower deck has illumination change too???? I want my red buttons!

can anyone how owns one let me know?? thanks!

and yes ive looked into the 9833/9835 but to pay the same price for a shady used one off ebay vs this one new.......i dont think so

i have 9847 and it has the 4 color change for the big buttons and two color for the small buttons. I'm pretty sure the 9853 has different colors. I was playing with it at best buy a while back. May want to go back and make sure. But I still wouldn't get that deck with the glide touch. Its only gonna cause problems later on. Fyi, the alpine site does not have switchable illum listed for the 9853.

and i tried the glide touch and honestly it wasnt that bad, kinda cool actually, im not sure why everyone is against it??

i'll stop at best buy tonight and check for you i'll be there anyway... the only reason I got 9847 was the pure white display to match the 03+ coupe gauges. The biolite unfortunately is a yellow/white and I'm very picky about matching. The amber color matches the rest of the dash perfectly for any model tho which is great.

the 9853 has only blue illumination. and the GlideTouch is cool for a while, but i never use it since theres a....remote! lol. its a great deck tho.

there is a manuf. defect where sometimes the cd does not eject. but usually the second time u push eject button it will come out, if not just hit the side of the center console and it comes out.

i called alpine canada today and they all is good now and ya the 9853 cant switch illumination, the 9855 can.........

dammit now i gotta decide if i want to fork out the extra $$$ for the 9855, probably will be a last minute decision, lol

yea, i find it sorta annoying that the biolite is yellowish..i prefer it to be whiter..

i still cant decide out of the 9853 or 9855.......the display didnt look that yellow to me??

i'll probably end up deciding when i pick it up next week........i just hate the green buttons on the 9853..... the blue four main buttons are fine.......but there is something about green on HU's that I just despise.......

i would say get the one that looks better. all alpines sound good. If you compare the biolite to the white 03+ coupe gauges, it will look yellow believe me. The 9847 display is the best match.

ya i have an 04 coupe........i'll check out the 9847.... but im pretty stuck on getting one of the full faced decks.......thanks for the info
