How can I test my AMP to check if it working?
MTX 8302. It is not installed in my car, it was pulled out of my other car, but it was not working at the time. I want to now try and diagnose weather it is the amp or just wire connections in the old car that was the cause of it not working. Is there a way to do this? I have power wire coming from the amp and a ground. The red light on the amp does not com on
Thanks for your help

the red light's not coming on because you need the remote wire to turn it on, when you have the power and ground connected to the battery, take a wire and put it in the remote on your amp and touch it on your + wire to turn it on.

So I can connect the power directly to the battery without risk of damage to the car or amp? The amp used to work, there was sound coming out of the sub I was using, then it just stopped working, so it may not be a remote wire issue unless it was connected and somehow was disconnected
the simple way to test it is to simply take 1 wire and hook it up to the power terminal then jump it over to the remote terminal then run the wire to the +bat. terminal then run a piece of wire from the -terminal on the amp to any ground. you can use speaker wire for this it doesnt need to be 8awg. but all this will tell you is if it turns on. if you want to see if it will play then you would need to run rca's from some kind of source like bring a ps2 out to your garage and use that as a source then hook up an old 6-1/2 and see if it plays. once again this wont tell you if its perfect it will only tell you it will power a 6-1/2. typically this is the equivalent to anything a car audio shop will do to test your amp.

So 1 wire from power terminal to remote terminal
Another wire from remote terminal to + bat terminal
Another wire from neg terminal on the amp to ground on the car
I just was not sure of what you meant by "jump it over to the remote terminal"
