Tried searching and couldn't find much.

well my sony 800W amp powering 2 12" Sony P5s keeps
shutting on and off randomly. I really don't believe its overheating
because of the way it happens. I live in hot florida but when i first installed it,
it ran fine for nearly a month, then is started shutting off.

It'll shut off for one sec and back on the nex then shut off again and come back on.

I'm thinking its the fuse under the hood, but its been doin this now for over a month. it really only happens between certain volumes just at random times between those volumes so if that has anything to do with it (i guess as far as power output/etc) its possible.

I checked the wiring, unhooked and reconnected everything, ground is in place all the wiring is fine.

Anybody else experience something like this? sorry if post is jumbled i'm at work and couldnt really look it over any input would be great, thanks!

yea but mine is because i have three amps (one pushes 2000watts) and the battery in the front only has 8 gauge wire connected to it, i had an 800 watt amp and it worked fine power wise...

does it go into diagnostic mode? and it turns on right after as long as you interupt the remote signal(turn deck off then on real quick)?

I've only owned one sony amp, and it kept on overheating on me and going into protection mode. Its the amp. Sony amps always overheat.

I never have a problem with my JL ever. Always works, and never turns off due to overheating.

Get the amp checked out it may be shorting out internally, that waould explain the turning on and off when you hit bumps or the amp heats up when you crank the volume. How old is this amp? If its still under warranty I would take it back to wherever u got it. If its time for a new amp, do yourself a favor and buy an eclipse amp. Clean power, great sound and a 3 YEAR WARRANTY!
